If it was borderline forward and still went behind Hodge, what does that say about Hodge's positioning?

I wouldn't blame either player. It was the urgency shown by George Bridge that forced the turnover.

I though Beale had a shocker. Wet and cold conditions against a fire up opposition in a high pressure game. Beale would NOT have been my starting 15, even if he did have a good game (in different circumstances) the week before. For games like last night, Beale is bench player. Mr Chieka - Have you heard of "horses for courses"?

Totally. Beale should have taken the tackle not pushed the speculator. Still if it came off he could have looked like a legend. Not the time or field position to throw the desperate pass though.

Disagree all you like guys, but... “you sound like David Lord.” Is uncalled for, I think that went too far. Insult each other, insult your mothers, whatever, but keep it above David Lord please. Kids might read this site.

waxhead. i am not being an excuse boy. you have played fullback. so then you know sometimes the back 3 interchange positions. especially on phase play. For the Reece try he was on the left wing close to Hodge and no one was at FB at all. have you seen the link and time stamp i sent? 3:45 just in case you missed it. you will see that koroibete was in the line, clumsy attempt at stabbing the kick from jordie barrett. beale was last defender on left side and hodge at fullback. your hyperbole is undoing yourself in real time video! :stoked:

@Riddler stop being excuse boy for Kurtley Phipps Beale - you sound like David Lord. Beale was picked at FB and it's his job to be a FB. For the Reece try he was on the left wing close to Hodge and no one was at FB at all. So Reece had a clear run to the line. I played as a FB for Randwick. Beale is out of position most of the time. He's a rubbish FB and always has been.

while i am on hodge. l 4.45 on same link. last kiwi try he should have stayed on the outside man and trusted the 3 covering defenders to get there. instead he guaranteed a kiwi try by creating an overlap. all 3 cover defenders had arrived to bridge as he was crossing the line.

you need glasses :) Beale should not have thrown the pass at all. It was borderline forward as it was. It would have been a miracle pick up from Hodge cos it went behind him at ankle height. ABs won this game due to Beale alone - Beale / ABs 14 - WBs 0.

3.45 of that link for the reece try. beale was defending on the wing and hodge defending at fullback. not sure how you got 50m out of position hyperbole on that one. hodge showed he is not up to this standard at fullback either. he neither went in diving for the ball or hanging back to tackle reece. he was completely in no man’s land. very bad play from a winger, let alone a fullback. once again i am no fan of beale and he should be only used as a sub. but i just prefer to deal in reality and facts rather than bias and hyperbole.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa3I6uZnHAg 1:25 definitely not behind and hodge definitely did not over run it. only thing on beale was that it was a bit low. hodge went with hand, had it and looked up and dropped it.

@Riddler - it was a crap pass from Beale way behind Hodge. 100% Beale's fault. As was his 3 dropped high balls, missed tackles and forward passes :)

And this try to ABs was 100% Beale's fault as he was 50m out of position on the left wing when a fullback is supposed to be at fullback i.e. the last line of defence covering against kicks and breakaway backs. Reece had a clear run to the line going exactly where Beale was supposed to be. Then Beale threw the bad pass that gifted the Mo'unga picked up and score in the 1st half. Beale/ABs 14 - WBs 0
