Mbappe is the complete player. Skills, brains, and nerve. He might have been the best player in the final, but for the most part, I think Argentina was the better team. But how quickly a game can change.

That version looked likely for 80 minutes. That said, at 2-0, I thought there was at least 1 goal left in the game, but I thought Argentina was the more likely. How was I to know that there were 4 goals left?!

Mbappe has serious stones. 3 penalties in a final is not to be sneezed at. But very happy for Messi to, as they say, complete football.

As long as you don't post the version that goes "Argentina cruised to a 2-0 victory on the back of early dominance in the first half..."

Was dull until last 15 minutes, great ending but nothing exciting prior

It was also better than '98 and the bits and pieces I saw of '94. This was a classic!

Eeeeesh...I don't know what more to add. That was an insane game of football. I have to go figure a match report that has been retopped 15 times while this game has been happening. What a result, thanks for joining me for it. Gracias, merci, thanks for reading!

Messi in the pantheon of greatness. Maybe the greatest, arguably.

There are tears absolutely everywhere. Montiel was crying almost before it hit the net. Mbappe looks crestfallen. Messi takes the applause.
