The Socceroos seek to secure top spot in Group B, potentially earning the best draw possible in the knockout phase, when they tackle Uzbekistan at the Asian Cup in Qatar. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:30pm (AEDT).
Prediction
Both teams have everything to play for, with the Socceroos facing a dangerous Uzbekistan side that still has eyes on top spot in the group.
Graham Arnold’s men have plenty left to do in Qatar and they should manage a draw at worst against a team they eclipse in talent on paper.

FIFA 25 v FIFA 68. Over the last couple of years they have had the best or equal best results of any Socceroos squad ever. They haven’t played with the fluidity that they are capable of at this tournament, but their results - win, win, draw are excellent. I hope they do improve their play, but I hope they win it even more! Your last comment was accurate and one that a football supporter would make - I agree with that.

Yes Grem, I basically follow 4 sports, Football, Rugby Union, League and AFL. I also enjoy Racing, both thoroughbred and standardbred. I've only created a new account due to trouble with my old one. Don't be quick to judge and my patriotism to Australian sport is beyond question. Good wishes.

Definitely not a troll mate and I take your points. Just found midfield really uninspiring. We weren’t playing a top 30 side, yet thought Uzbekistan were thebetter or at the least gave us a huge run for our money. Don’t assume I want to see the Socceroos fail, have been following them religiously for over 50 years. Can you say the same? I would expect better of Fifa 39 vs Fifa 77.

We need a Right & a Left back.

No football supporter was happy with their performance. They definitely need more fluency and a better touch at the moment, but they are undefeated in a tough competition. At this moment I’d prefer them to be undefeated and topping the group, while playing below their best than playing beautiful football and knocked out. Japan won’t be knocked out, but lost to Iraq the other night and they’ve been playing well. 11th best team at the last World Cup (a real one, not a pretend one or a world of 10 or less teams), and undefeated at this tournament so far. We’ve had teams do worse than that. This one and only comment from John Signorile indicates you’re just a troll wanting to say negative things about football.

Possibly the worst Socceroo side of modern times.

They look better with Bruno on. He’s able to hold up play with his back to goal, and has a great touch, good close ball control.

He looked good for his short time.

Thanks for being with me for the match, it was a tight and cagey affair at times. There is plenty of football to come in the coming days and the Socceroos will be in action this weekend, as they look for a spot in the quarter-finals. Australia…………………………..1 Uzbekistan………………………..1

Thanks Stuart. The Socceroos have not had a great start to the tournament, but have 2 wins and a draw - were undefeated. They’ve topped the group and enter the next stage. There are two positives. Hopefully our form comes soon.

Geez we need a right back. That goal was all down to no pressure from Atkinson. Lots of clumsy passing all over the pitch.

Yowsers. The great escape? I’m not sure what people’s reactions will be to the Socceroos. “Too conservative”, maybe.
