The English are the ones that have a reputation for whingeing and being obsessed with the weather. But having lived in both countries, it’s Australians that are the bigger whingers, and they are even more obsessed with the weather! The climate in Australia is better than most other places in the world, but all we ever hear is that it’s too hot, or it’s too cold, or it rained. We’re spoilt by many things in Australia, and one of them is the weather.

The A-League could learn a little from rugby league – but not in the way you think

Disagree about the football being mostly “poor quality” and I think that 80-90% of people that actually watch the A-League would also disagree.

Thanks Tony, and well done at the World Cup, but it’s time to go now.

'We're in the process now': Matildas coach turns to stars for second Canada game, defends blooding young players

Apparently Tony is going to play a “full strength” team tomorrow night (minus the injured players who are not in the squad). Will be interesting to see how they go against a rampant Canada at home, on artificial turf in the freezing cold.

This will spark more claims of Sydney-centricity

And don’t forget Dennis Genreau. He’s already playing in one of the Big 5 leagues. Just googled and he has already played 54 matches for Toulouse. Arnold doesn’t seem to rate him though……..

Socceroos abroad, A-League preview, and Ange's big test: Australian football round-up

Waz, clocks go forward for daylight saving not back, so for those people exercising in the morning and enjoying the cooler temperatures, it would actually be cooler 😊

Football will never get anywhere in Australia until it presents a united front

Thanks Grem! I’m really hopeful that Leicester and Ipswich get promoted (if Suttar stays). Same with Circati at Parma, and Metcalfe and Irvine at St.Pauli. And if Garang Kuol, Robertson and Irankunda can make the first teams of Newcastle, Man City and Bayern then all of a sudden we’d have a handful of young players in the Premier League, Serie A, and Bundesliga!

Seems like it was a cracking game! Shame I can’t watch a replay because I’m not in Australia so 10play and Keepup are geo-location blocked 👎

Wanderers weather storm - and Roar - to maintain unbeaten record after stunning late comeback

You’re probably right Beach!

You can stick your uncompetitive EPL, Bundesliga and Serie A - this year's A-League is far more entertaining

Appreciate you taking the time to write about F1 Ben! I came late to the party – only became interested about 5 years ago – but it’s now a sport that I really enjoy.

Both behind paywalls unfortunately. Couldn’t find the Canberra Times article though.

The A-League Men needs a lot more games like the Sydney Derby

City are 2nd on goal difference in their group. It is true that A-League teams have struggled against Asian opposition in the ACL but this is mainly because the A-League has a salary cap. Adelaide were runners up in 2008 and WSW were champions in 2014.

Melbourne City, Mariners and Macarthur resume their Asian games this week. With the salary cap and the A-Leagues’ rapid transformation into a development league, City and Mariners squads look very different to when they qualified for Asia and their positions on the A-League ladder this season reflect this. Only Macarthur that qualified by winning the Australia Cup are in the top 6.

What political positions did the PFA take?

The A-League Men needs a lot more games like the Sydney Derby

In summer, Australia has 5 time zones (Lord Howe Island is the 5th). I don’t think 4 time zones is too many/few, and a long way from one time zone with China’s Beijing time.

My comment was meant as facetious. Only commenting about a footballing article would we be debating daylight saving. But here we go: Today Brisbane’s sunrise is 4:44am and sunset is 6:25pm. Cairns 5:33am and 6.35pm. Townsville 5:25am and 6:35pm, Weipa 5:56am and 6:44pm. Pushing the clocks forward one hour is still very doable. In the 1992 daylight saving referendum the “No” vote got 54.5%. The Federal Government should force the Queensland state government to adopt daylight saving like all the other eastern states so that Waz and other Queeslanders don’t need to go to the game one hour earlier.

It’s QLD’s fault for worrying about fading the curtains and having to milk the cows an hour earlier with no Daylight Savings………..

9,769 for Roar v Glory is not bad and at least moving in the right direction. The problem is that it’s played at the 50,000 capacity Suncorp. Adelaide get 12,000 at Coopers and it looks quite full. Just under 29,000 for the derby was disappointing but I’ll take it. Agree that we just need to get back to that 12,000 average of a few years prior to Covid. It’s currently just under 9K, trending in the right direction.
