Two sides near the top of the table – the Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners – go head-to-head in Tuesday night action. Stay up to date with their A-League clash with live scores on The Roar from 7:05pm (AEST).

The Wanderers had a golden opportunity to move further up the ladder on the weekend, but could only manage a 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar. Western Sydney are now within reach of the four sides snapping at their heels, but are also just six points off first place – meaning a win tonight would be monumental and a loss potentially deadly.

Central Coast rebounded from their mini-slump with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Adelaide United on Thursday night. The ladder-leading Mariners look destined to be overtaken by Melbourne City in the near future, but will still view tonight’s contest as a big opportunity to reaffirm themselves as genuine contenders.

Did anyone notice?, This game, held on a Wednesday night drew the biggest crowd , at 9,755, at an A-League game, since the Melbourne derby back on 6th February, some 30 games ago. Great stuff, and congrats to the two contestants for an enjoyable 90 minutes. Cheers jb.

Despite your perpetually ill-natured comments regarding CCM, you may be right here. It's a common story when a team is consistently ascendant or there about. They get the 50/50 calls more often than not, despite the other team having a reasonable shout. CCM's penalty awarded against Baccus would have been waved away in previous years, and the challenge into the back on Kamau should have been a pen. Rub of the green & all that. Understand & embrace our grief of the last few seasons, it'll make you stronger. And my dog says hey.

I may be wrong but the only game where a red was awarded against a mariners opposition was the City match at home. As for the pens, pretty much all of em have been through VAR, which means 2 things, the on field ref is choosing to ignore genuine pen calls for the mariners, and we are deserving of the pens under review.

CCM have replaced Sydney FC as the “darlings” of the A League I.e. how many penalties have they been awarded this season to date? Also how many opposition teams have had players red carded when playing CCM? Coincidence or a good news story with their rise from easybeats who trial Usain Bolt for publicity purposes to top of the league. Their fan base of two men & a dog are enjoying the ride.

This was a good game of football for a neutral. Both teams could have won it.
