Tell us: Who are the teams to watch out for in the 2019 Rugby World Cup draw?

By Benjamin Conkey / Editor

It may be more than two years away but we’ll soon have a better idea of what the road to glory looks like for the Wallabies at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The draw officially takes place at 6:00pm (AEST) today and we’ll be broadcasting a special episode of Roar LIVE to react to the pools as soon as they’re announced.

The Roar LIVE special will be broadcast on our Roar Rugby Facebook page and we’ll also have a live blog of the announcement.

The special will be hosted by Roar assistant editor Daniel Jeffrey, who will be joined by experts Spiro Zavos and Geoff Parkes as they give their take on the draw.

But we also want to find out what you think. So, after the amazing performance of Japan at the 2015 tournament, we want you to tell us which team is likely to be the surprise packet of the 2019 tournament in the comments below.

If you want to drop us a question as we react to the draw, be sure to head over to the Roar Rugby Facebook page during the live stream and add it to the comments section, and we’ll do our best to get to as many as possible.

You can find out all the info you need about the draw over at our 2019 Rugby World Cup fixtures page, including which 12 teams have already qualified and where the other eight teams will come from.

Agree. But it used to be done 3 years out which is just ridiculous, so 2 isn't so bad.

France will be back to playing guerilla rugby and claiming big scalps. The signs are already there.

Is there a reason why the draw is done 2 years before the tournament. So much can change in that time in terms of world rankings/form etc. that one conceivably end up with 3 of the best teams in the world ranking wise in the same group.. ??

I think Georgia will provide a big upset as Japan did in 2015. Looking forward to the draw.

All blacks would love it, having to shake up last RWC with restrictive tactics and intra-team mid week games. Argy too, for me, and Samoa. No complacency or rust after that pool for the ABs!

NZ and SA in the same pool for the first time would be great.

Yes SA has now slipped to an all time low of 7th on the rankings. It is a real possibility that one of the higher ranked sides will draw them and Argentina in the 1st round.

Yes I am Irish when they are playing and Australian when they are playing - Generally cheering for Australia brings more joy, but not in rugby over the last year or so. What happened to that team that came 2nd in the World Cup, the Super results are appalling.

One of the Pacific Island teams will give it a real shake I reckon and get into the QF. Surprise packets will be Australia who play about as well as England at the last WC.

Imagine if we got Scotland, Argentina and Samoa. We would be done for.

I wonder if South Africa, Scotland or Argentina is the worst team for Australia to draw? I guess it has to be Scotland.

Ah my mistake. I took it as Ireland were Australia's usual punishment ;)

Ireland are Band 1, like Australia. We won't be pooled with them.

Probably Ireland's - that seems to be our usual punishment. Course last time round we waited to the quarter finals to lose to the Argies.

Don't you have to see if Australia qualifies first?
