AFLX draft results: who got picked from your club

By Liam Salter / Roar Guru

Eddie Betts, Patrick Dangerfield, Nat Fyfe and Jack Riewoldt have picked their teams for AFLX 2019. Check out the full result below, including which players from your club were snapped up.

Taking place in a studio, the four captains in Nat Fyfe selected twelve players each, and the picks were varied across the board.

The first picks were an intriguing mix, with Brad Hill (Deadly’s), Tom Hawkins (Bolts), Scott Pendlebury (Flyers) and Lachie Whitfield (Rampage) the first four names read out.

Betts’ team of all-indigenous players also included Geelong’s Tim Kelly, Melbourne’s Steven May, Hawthorn’s Chad Wingard and Eagles young-gun Willie Rioli among others.

Superstars Andrew Gaff and Robbie Gray were among those joining the Bolts, along with young talent Andrew McGrath and Jaidyn Stephenson.

Fyfe poached defenders Alex Rance and Aliir Aliir along with talent Isaac Heeney, Jeremy Cameron and Stephen Coniglio.

Rampage’s notable picks included Dayne Zorko, Hawks pair Isaac Smith and Luke Bruest, along with Rory Sloane and Easton Wood.

Lachie Neale and Buddy Franklin were among the superstars missing out on selection.

The actual AFLX tournament, where we’ll see these teams in action, is two weeks away. That’ll be held on Friday, February 22nd at Marvel Stadium.

Is it charity ? Herald Sun reported players were being payed.....I still do not think any player suspended especially vicious attacks like Gaff's should being playing JLT games or any inter club games either. Just my opinion.

Surely we all agree this is just a bit of charity fun. It is not proper football. Gaff has been suspended from proper football only. He has not been suspended from living. Making a positive contribution to charity has got to be a good thing.

I'm with you, Jonboy. I don't agree with his addition in ALFX, but the men in suits have okayed it, so we've gotta accept it!

I do not think it is fair that Gaff is on parole and earning money playing in this silly format, when his victim has up to 3 years of further surgery to 4 dead teeth.

All of them. More so the kids like Sturt, Valente and Carter then, less so, the mature age kids like Bewley, Watson and Shultz. I'm also hanging out to watch last year's injured kids, North, Dixon and Switkowski a lot more. Of the others, the two players that I expect will really have an influence are Bennell and Logue. Happy to wait for the proper pre-season games for them

Handy point Brian, but are they going to Tassie and is it fair when Freo go to Tassie regularly and most Vic clubs Never go there ?

Well I have to say certain Freo supporters jump up and down everytime they have to travel to Tasmania, but Fyfe having extra travelling for this is ok?

Ha, precisely. If there's one good thing that emerges from this, maybe Coniglio will get along super well with Fyfe and then in October he'll remember this....

"pretty harmless, low-impact" The whole point is that is may not actually be harmless or low impact, the only certainty is that it is pointless.

Yep...and I am as eclectic as they come so it is a wide net. I get that you hate footy...all footy. They won't be caring about you, anon. But then, you have no clue what you like. You only know what you don't like...everything.

Of course, if Tom Hawkins could ever catch Zac Fisher to ‘run through’ him, I’d say Zac was going to have a bad year anyway.

Well said Hooked It is that easy. People getting worked up about it need to cultivate some introspection. It is some deep, weird stuff they are projecting on a pretty harmless, low-impact one-night competition

Dalgety - Necessary- adjective 1.needed to be done, achieved, or present; essential. Can you give me one reason why AFL X is necessary? And the reason why I am not going to change is because your argument is rubbish.

I’m not kidding myself that there’s going to be any skerrick of change in where your heels are dug in Macca. – AFLX is going to happen whether you like it or not. I feel no need to justify it one bit. How you view it is up to you and your comfort levels. – The necessary/unnecessary categorisation on this is all subjective interpretation though so do whatever you and your heartburn levels like with that.

Slane, yes our hammy issues did happen at training but that is not the point. Sam Docherty did his knee at training. Training is a part of footy. It is necessary and part of what players sign on to do. Even in suburban leagues with players getting $80 a game there are contract clauses for not missing too many training sessions. It is frowned upon for players to take unnecessary risks outside of training such as rock climbing or any unsupervised martial arts, etc. AFLX is unnecessary. The brand doesn't need it and in fact it may well damage the brand.
