Wallabies DIY Player Ratings from Bledisloe 2: The results

By The Roar / Editor

The results are in! Yesterday we asked you to rate the Wallabies’ individual performances from Game 2 of the Bledisloe Cup – now we’ve added up the numbers, and… oh… wow, they really don’t look very good, do they?

I’ll level with you – we had a lot more fun this time last week doing the player ratings from the Wallabies’ breakthrough at Optus Stadium. But this, well, this was devastating.

Positives? There aren’t many. Reece Hodge was “best on” for Australia from the starting XV with an average rating of 4.80. To give you a point of comparison, 6.71 was the lowest score of any starter last week.

The only player in the entire side to get above a five average was our boy the Tongan Thor, Taniela Tupou with a dynamic 5.03 off the bench. Eek.

As for the negatives, the voters pretty clearly singled out two names in the starting side who copped their wrath most strongly: Lukhan Salakaia-Loto (average rating 2.65), and Kurley Beale (2.76).

Rob Simmons with a 2.72 on the bench didn’t get much love either. However, those scores are almost flattering – all three copped a ‘1’ as their most common rating.

Check out the full results below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Totally agree with you. Even his own shadow overtakes him.

Everyone on this thread is talking about Wallaby 9,10,11,12 positions and changes to be made. The Wallabies lost the game in the forwards. Dominate possession through your forwards and your chances of winning the game increase dramatically. Why not ask why the tight five forwards were not winning possession against the ABs ?

Quade doesn’t perform, makes silly errors when pressured and especially at International level against the top teams. He only looks good when his team is performing well. I’m saying this about one of my favourite players.

If you are, then I am too! I thought he was one of Australia's form looses, and the type of hard working, blue collar (but also very skilled) looses that the Wallabies needed.

I still don’t understand why McCaffrey hasn’t had a lookin. Am I overrating him Fionn?

We shouldn't even have to have this conversation, cause Quade Cooper should be starting at 10

yes Adam, hard to see how they can find a place for both Simmons and LSL ahead of him

I remember that series well. We almost won the first game, won the second, and the refereeing in the 3rd was very poor. French from memory. Speaking of which loved the absence of arns entering the ruck this week. Our South African friends must have their contest. It's the one thing that really irks me the most. The absence of consistency.

Foley has been poor for years. I just don’t see how going back to someone with more poor international form, who hasn’t showed what Lealiifano showed in two of his last three matches and who has much worse super rugby form is likely to accomplish. Lealiifano has outplayed Foley all year. Time to pick and stick.

Fionn , White is the second playmaker in a way Genia never can be. CLL was not kicking except for the brain fade (or running much), and his passing to the left was poor all three games. Foley’s passes are much better and he runs and backs up more. CLL is marginally better defensively, but overall I think it will improve our backline.

How did Scott Sio get a 5 after getting pumped. Should have been a 3. AAA got a 4 which was fair enough. CLL raring was also over generous. Poor KB is feeling the wrath

I’ve never seen Kerevi play well without a 12 who is a playmaker. I just don’t even see the argument of him being tried again. For years the justification for keeping a second playmaker at 12 was that Foley needed or to play his best rugby. He has also been in very average form for years now.

LSL has now been the lowest rated player in these ratings in the starting 15 for 3 weeks in a row now... time for Wright

Agreed Fionn about Fardy. Also with Higginbotham, just so much better then some of Cheika’s favourites.

Beale according to me; is supposed to get 1. Also Lurkhan and bring Jabhrome Browne.

If you think they’re not up to it wait until you put a makeshift player in there. Forgotten the disastrous experiment with Beale last year already? Quade is probably up to it but will never be given a genuine chance. CLL isn’t cutting it because he doesn’t have the variation in his game… So as much as I don’t like Foley he is the next best option. CLL is the first genuine alternative player at 10 without having Foley inside him in years. Another Cheika legacy. Too late to experiment now.

Who is the "real 10" you think they should pick? This WBs team is never going to be the real deal without a quality 10 - its the most important position in the back-line. Foley, QC and CLL are simply not up to it - that is obvious.
