NRL Round 18 teams: Mass changes for Bulldogs, Dragons and Knights

By The Roar / Editor

The NRL Round 18 teams have been revealed.

The Bulldogs have made big changes to their backline ahead of Friday night’s clash with Manly, with Marcelo Montoya, Kerrod Holland and Kieran Foran all missing. Jayden Okunbor has been recalled to the wing, with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Reimis Smith forming a centres pairing and Jake Averillo moving to five-eighth.

The Dragons have also rolled the changes ahead of their clash with Canberra, handing Cody Ramsey his NRL debut on the wing, while Paul Vaughan will form a new-look front row with Kaide Ellis.

Elsewhere, Newcastle will be without Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Barnett for their date with the Roosters.

Young has been indoctrinated by McGregor's bad coaching, hence no changes. As for Ravalawa, he'd have to be injured, surely Young couldn't have dropped him, what a joke if he wasn't injured.

There were no mass changes for the Dragons. This is straight out of Mary's playbook, promising change but dropping a winger. Rava has been carrying a knee injury most of the year so he has been rested

Well, I guess he should take it. He's certainly not getting any love at the Dragons. He's 22 now so probably should have had more than 5 NRL games by now.

He can take a hit from Chad. JWH's head is more intimidating.

I'll see your Dogs v Eagles festival and raise you Broncos v Titans... I'll watch but it'll be distorted through the bottom of a schooner.

Could be a little both ways. Listening to Dell on radio, while he doesn't come out and say it directly, it does sound like there's an opportunity elsewhere for the young fella.

Can't answer the Sailor question but playing Brittain does make me wonder if there is truth to Hunt being shopped around to other clubs.

Find the timing of Newcastle resting players odd. The Roosters could run up a score on them and I can't imagine that's a good thing for the side a few weeks out from the finals.

The sooner 2020 ends for Saints the better. We can look forward to Griffin stamping his mark on the team. As for Tristan Sailor, better ask Wendell, he'll give you a straight answer.

You can't have too many hookers DP. I'm surprised they're only going with 3! Surely Ravalawa is injured? He couldn't be dropped. The continued absence of little Dell makes me think that they won't be re-signing him for next year.

I don't agree. The occasional brain explosion, sure. But Fox and Suli are the best wingers we've ever had - better than Bai, Folau, Koribete, etc.

Not a fan of Suli at all - a loose cannon with abysmal judgement in both defence and attack (too many bewildering brain explosions). Lumelume has been a breath of fresh air and I'd much rather see him on the wing.

Suli and Nelson in Paps and Welch out....not sure if the team is stronger or weaker than last week.

Good to see Suli and Nelson are back for the Storm. Didn't know Paps was injured.

Bulldogs and Sea Eagles. Oh the shame: for the honour of the reputations of such great sides that have played for both clubs. Still no Turbo, but Jurbo, and younger brother Burbo on the bench. Maybe an interesting battle of the Hopoate brothers. Maybe an interesting game. Maybe I’ll win Powerball.

Will someone ‘in the know’ please explain why Sailor is on the ‘outer’? Did he run over Young’s cat or something? Billy B is a hooker and there are two others on the field, both playing well. Sailor can play 5/8, there is one other who isn’t playing well. Both Billy and Sailor are unsigned for 2021, so why is Young pushing Billy B’s chances and leaving Sailor out in the cold?? And Rava is axed for Cody??
