A bit disappointing to see the negative comments directed towards the Broncos. Only 6 players with ratings above 6 seems very harsh. To be fair, this is a team that came within an inch of defeating one of the greatest sides of modern times. Thanks Broncos for one of the best ever Grand Finals and kudos for the courage you showed.

Grand Final player ratings - Brisbane Broncos: Nobody better than Ezra but hot-and-cold stars prove costly

Really? We clearly have very different expectations of finals footy. Mine does not include a 30 point drubbing.

ANALYSIS: Walsh puts Panthers on notice as Broncos crush Warriors to deliver first Grand Final since 2015

Grant best on ground?!! No….! NO!! He was awful. Wild passes at crucial moments has become a bad habit with him and his service in general needs to be a lot crisper (looping passes close to the opponent’s tryline puts the 1st receiver under enormous pressure). Even as a Storm supporter I think he’s hugely over rated (as is Munster). By the way, I think Meaney’s reliability at the back kept us in that game. I feel the better team lost, frankly.

ANALYSIS: Storm overshadow AFL as Warbrick speccy downs brave Roosters - who nearly repeat the fairytale

I find it interesting that no-one appears to be talking about Kevin Walters as coach of the year (that I’ve come across, anyway). I was one of his sternest critics at the beginning of the season, but he’s taken Brisbane from lower than the Warriors and Newcastle last year to 2nd place (ie, higher) this year. I’d have thought he was a certainty – along with a big slice of humble pie for your’s truly.

PS – no disrespect at all meant to the Warriors and Newcastle. Terrific achievement for both clubs.
PPS I’m a Storm supporter with no agenda or bias

NRL Finals Week 2 preview talking points: Goodbye, farewell and amen

Bill Mullins for Tupou, Bunny Reilly for Hugh McGhan and Kevin Junee for Hastings. I’ve never seen footage of of Brown or Messenger, but it seems a shame a place can’t be made somewhere for Mark Harris.

The Sydney Roosters' greatest NRL team

I’m confused. I’m sure I heard Brenko Lee called early in the game – then he seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. Was it a commentator error? I must admit that I was astonished at his selection in the squad in the first place.

State of Origin 1 player ratings: Queensland Maroons

A small price to pay as an alternative to channel 9. Thanks.

Four key factors that will decide Origin 1

Thanks BB. Any idea if they are doing a delayed broadcast later tonight?

Four key factors that will decide Origin 1

Does anyone know if Fox are covering the game tonight? Their programming info is a bit ambiguous.

Four key factors that will decide Origin 1

Can someone explain to me how the Telegraph knew the winner in advance? Doesn’t seem to be much discussion around that outside the tweet quoted above.

Jack Wighton wins 2020 Dally M Medal after surprise victory was revealed too early

That’s amazing!! I was just about to post exactly the same comment (just about word for word). The guy makes me furious – he clearly has an agenda and has basically taken away NRL 360 as a viewing option for me.

Stuart walks out on media

The biggest difference with Canberra this year is the absence of Leilua. All those brain snaps and momentum-changing penalties are gone and they’re a much more disciplined and consistent side.

Raiders tighter and hungrier than in 2019

Yep – great game with a fair result. The referee also had a very good game – well done. Disagree strongly in regard to Luai – his defence was absolutely sensational. The first try was a double-up effort after an unbelievable try saver on his own line and the 2nd was being run over by a rampaging Crichton (put his body in front of him and you can’t ask more than that). The sad thing for me is that Flanigan appears to have lost all confidence after being dropped earlier this year and is merely making up the numbers (except for his goal kicking which is superb). Coach did him no favours and it’s still a little bewildering as he appeared to be going very well at the time. Chooks would be better off without the mistake-ridden JWH. Great start to the finals!

Nathan Cleary leads Penrith to finals win over Roosters

They were expecting to play the Roosters next week when the decision to rest players was made.

Seven talking points from NRL Round 20

Um – sorry to be picky but a civil war is a war within the one country.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 19

Not a fan of Suli at all – a loose cannon with abysmal judgement in both defence and attack (too many bewildering brain explosions). Lumelume has been a breath of fresh air and I’d much rather see him on the wing.

NRL Round 18 teams: Mass changes for Bulldogs, Dragons and Knights

NO. Gould’s harshest critics (as I’m one of them) do NOT agree he has an exceptional Rugby League IQ. He’s a loud-mouthed, opinionated git and people tend to buy into his self-aggrandisement.

The Penrith Panthers: The club that can’t handle success

10/10 – a terrific effort. He was everywhere and most of his contributions were quality. Maloney had a stinker, however. Missed tackles, poor kicks at crucial times – it nearly cost his team. One of those rocks or diamonds players. Only player on the field who played badly.

How do you rate Mitchell Pearce's Origin 3 performance?

Credit where it’s due – and it’s absolutely not due here! Unbelievable comment if you’ve heard all his comments from that podcast. He placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of the media for beating it up. I can’t believe the positive spin of the comments under this article. Idiots like Gould and the people who try to paint him as some sort of genius are what’s turning me off the game.

"I'm glad it's happened to us"; Gould sees silver lining in sex tap scandal

Agreed. He had a blinder – played like a captain (no disrespect to Paul Gallen). The other positive was R T-S. Finally saw what he is capable of at fullback.

[VIDEO] Sydney Roosters vs Cronulla Sharks highlights: NRL scores

3 interesting points to come out of the match:
1. Jack Bird – what a find. Transformed his side. Bye bye Barba – may never play NRL again.
2. One of the worst performances by a halves pairing I’ve seen in recent times. Pearce and Maloney bombed about 4 tries between them and made far too many mistakes (I’d like to see the stats on Pearce’s missed tackles). Pathetic kicking game – surely they’re now off Laurie Daley’s radar. A pity, but really an unforgivable performance under pressure.
3. Ray Warren badly needs to retire. Much of the match is spent explaining to him what just happened.
To be fair to P & M, all the NSW halves hopefuls had very disappointing weekends (even the usually reliable Adam Reynolds). Perhaps we should just ignore this weekend and see what happens next week?

Who’s the reserve goal kicker? Hayne? Good team – will be a cracking series. Good luck to Reynolds and Hodkinson – I don’t really think Laurie was left with an alternative. Mullen was a spectator last night when he should have been the orchestrator. Not good enough.

NSW Blues team for 2014 State of Origin Game 1: Expert reaction

GIDLEY?????????????? Gosh, I don’t think even his mother would pick him!!

Reynolds and Hodkinson are my Origin halves

Did we watch the same game? After spending the whole day throwing my support behind Mullen, then giving glowing reports of his first half performance, the guy just stood back and became a spectator in the second half. In a situation where great halves step forward and take control of the game, Jarrod Mullen became a mailbox. He didn’t take the line on once (to my memory) and I saw very little evidence of him organising his troops. Great defence, but – overall – really, really disappointing given what was at stake. I guess it’s Hodkinson and Reynolds after all!

Reynolds and Hodkinson are my Origin halves

I agree with all those sentiments. Aaron Woods was described as a certainty a few weeks ago, but since then he’s been very poor. My concern is with his defence – particularly on the line. Too often you see him grabbing at thin air. A very hot and cold player and lacks the temperament for SOO. Despite a weak game against Penrith last week, Mullens is impressing me so far tonight. Great defence in the middle of the field and a real team player. Josh Reynolds is like an opera singer – me me me me me!
