Round 12 team lists Late Mail: Foxx good to go for Origin audition, Dragons recall key duo, Dolphins cult hero dropped

Test winger Josh Addo-Carr has been cleared to return for his NSW audition and he is adamant he can perform in Origin if selected despite a limited preparation.

Addo-Carr is on track to make his return from syndesmosis surgery in Canterbury’s clash with Gold Coast on Sunday, on the same day players start entering camp for Game 1 but he is unfazed by the prospect of playing only one match in seven-and-a-half weeks in the lead-up.

“People have done it before and returned off one game,” Addo-Carr told AAP at Canterbury’s Indigenous round launch on Wednesday. “The passion and desire is inside you to do the job, and I have that.

“I should be good for Sunday. It gets better and better every day. It just pulled up a bit sore last week after doing a bit more wrestle and a bit more contact on the field.”

Interim coach Ryan Carr has stamped his authority on the Dragons on day one after taking over in the wake of Anthony Griffin‘s sacking by recalling dumped duo Zac Lomax and Jacob Liddle.

The return of Lomax to centre is major news for St George Illawarra after Griffin controversially dropped him a fortnight ago then didn’t initially explain to the goal-kicking star why he had been punted.

Liddle also returns at hooker with veteran Moses Mbye making way while Ben Hunt is back at halfback and Jayden Sullivan benched.

Determined to show a united group, the Dragons twice embraced in a team huddle in the opening 15 minutes of Tuesday morning’s training session on the outside field at WIN Stadium in Wollongong. Carr was part of that address, vocal in the early stages of life without Griffin at the helm.

The Dragons will be trying to avoid a seventh straight defeat when they host the Roosters at Kogarah with the visitors missing five-eighth Joey Manu due to an ankle injury.

Utility Drew Hutchison will partner Luke Keary in the halves while winger Daniel Tupou is still a couple more weeks away from a return from a hamstring injury while centre Paul Momirovski won’t be back until the final month of the season due to his shoulder damage.

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has dropped Valynce Te Whare despite the rookie centre scoring two tries on debut against the Sharks in Magic Round before they had the bye last weekend. Brenko Lee is back from a hamstring injury to replace the new club’s cult hero against the Storm on Saturday night.

Parramatta forward Shaun Lane has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks after he limped off with a hamstring injury in Saturday night’s loss to Canberra in a massive blow to Brad Arthur’s hopes of kick-starting his team’s spluttering campaign.

The Eels are mired in 14th with a 4-7 record and take on the red-hot Rabbitohs this Friday night at Allianz Stadium.

They will get halfback Mitchell Moses (concussion) for their crucial clash while prop Junior Paulo is free to play after he was charged with dangerous contact for a cannonball tackle on Joseph Tapine in the 29th minute of Parramatta’s 26-18 loss in Canberra. He has submitted an early guilty plea for a fine of $1800.

Souths duo Tom Burgess (back) and Jed Cartwright (concussion) are under a cloud.

Manly lock Josh Aloiai is set to be out for a lengthy spell after he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the first half of Sunday’s loss to Cronulla while second-rower Kelma Tuilagi fractured his cheekbone and will also miss at least a month. 

Raiders hooker Zac Woolford was concussed against Parra so he will sit out Sunday’s stoush with the Sea Eagles.

Brisbane have ruled out injured captain Adam Reynolds against Penrith with playmaker Jock Madden set to step into the halfback role.

Reynolds was cleared of any serious neck injury in last Thursday night’s 24-16 loss to Melbourne after he was taken from the field at AAMI Park on a medicab.

Cronulla duo Siosifa Talakai (neck) and Oregon Kaufusi (illness) missed the win over Manly but the centre is still out while the prop is back this Saturday for the Coffs Harbour assignment against Newcastle.
