Wests Tigers have issued Adam Doueihi with a “please-explain” after he called a social media post about LGBTQI inclusion in sport “embarrassing”.
But the Tigers five-eighth denied he had intended to belittle the LGBTQI community with his since-deleted Instagram comment.
Doueihi replied to a post on the English Premier League’s Instagram page that had the heading “How to speak about LGBTQ+ inclusion”.
The upload came as part of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, through which the EPL promotes LGBTQI inclusion with a variety of initiatives between December 2 and 7.
Doueihi commented “embarrassing post” under the upload, which featured prompts for discussing LGBTQI inclusion.

The 25-year-old later deleted the comment, but not before it had garnered more than 9000 likes.
The Tigers have not launched a formal investigation into the comment, but called Doueihi on Sunday for an explanation.
Doueihi told the club he perceived the post to be dictating what people could say to the LGBTQI community, which he found “embarrassing”.
He said he deleted his comment after realising it could have been misconstrued as homophobic.
A club representative told AAP the Tigers were an inclusive club that would remain a safe space for fans and players.
The NRL integrity unit has not been involved in the matter.
In October, Doueihi voiced his support for a Sydney Catholic girls’ school’s decision to block students from bringing female dates to their Year 12 formal.
Doueihi was raised and identifies as a Christian.
The playmaker is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in April, but last month coach Benji Marshall said he could feature at some point in the 2024 season.

He's a genuinely misunderstood bloke, old Judas. You are quite right. He was destined to do it. God said so. And yet God also says we have free will. Genuinely unsure how God reconciles the idea of free will with predicting (and informing Judas) someone of their upcoming betrayal. If Judas was to do it freely, why bother announcing an upcoming betrayal? It's basically begging Judas to defy god.

Honestly, strictly speaking, the right to free speech is not enshrined in Australian law. In fact there are numerous state based laws which curtail free speech and make some forms of speech illegal. The problem is, governments usually point to particularly abhorrent forms of speech and everyone furiously agrees they should be banned cause, you know, Nazis and stuff. Then a bit later on people start getting arrested for questioning lock downs and vaccine mandates. The rest of us start thinking “hmm, I don’t remember agreeing to that…” State controlled and/or corporate controlled speech is the thin end of the wedge IMHO.

That’s a very broad statement. Interesting how you feel so free to criticise Christianity. I wonder if that’s because they’re so tolerant. As for Judas, did it ever occur to you that he was destined to play his part? Without Judas, there is no capture, trial, crucifixion and resurrection. No saviour. No forgiveness of sins. But that’s another story.

Yes, because the board / management are allowed to frame the organisation’s beliefs. You’ve got to ask how committed to someone’s beliefs they are if they’re willing to be promote an organisation that disagrees with such core beliefs. Judas had more integrity than most Christians I meet in business If it’s so wrong, don’t take the money

Not really, he actually signed away that right to participate in the NRL via the code of conduct. I signed it away too. Many on this site have also. But that aside no one is imprisoning him, all the consequences are commercial.
