Here’s a left field idea. Parramatta, get Bennett and Cheika together. Bennett gets 2 years with Cheika as assistant and head coach to follow as is happening at the Dolphins.

Solly needs to talk publicly a lot less. As reported in this article he’s said “We want to give Ben and the coaching staff the time to develop some of our younger players who we’re starting to see come through”. How do the senior players such as Cook feel about the CEO telling the interim coach to give the young guys more game time, presumably over the time they would usually expect and what about next year for them

I’m not counting coaches currently with clubs and presumably on contract next year… but yes, he’d be a great choice.

Call me naive, but surely the argument can be solved by making it illegal to have more than two defenders make initial contact. Many knock outs appear to be caused by the third defender interfering with or taking up needed positional space of their teammates.

To my opinion, my only dislike of Gutho is the way he seems to lose control when the team are down; yelling at teammates more, taking over halves duty and generally derailing the team by not showing leadership under pressure.

Talking about Wayne having assistant coaches ready to take over, the Phins approach is likely to be more successful than JD given Woolf has been head coach in England and for Tonga. He is not unfamiliar with the whole job as JD was.

The NRL should have been smart enough to say publicly when registering Jennings that, despite their forgivings in doing so, they have no legal reason to deny it according to their lawyers. Put blame on the roosters and lawyers. Then outline what would happen if he reached 300 games and avoid the fire storm created by ignoring it until the week before the 300 game.
