Adelaide will enter as the clear favourites to claim their second AFLW premiership today.

The side they’ve put on the park this year is probably the best ever assembled in the history of the AFLW comp, as the mature stars they acquired when the competition originally opened are now complimented by rising youngsters.

Erin Phillips still leads the way for the Crows and looks a strong chance to win the league’s best-and-fairest for the second time later this week.

Her co-captain Chelsea Randall has again been a strong contributor for the Crows this season, and they’ve also seen incredible work from Ebony Marinoff.

However a lot of the attention and focus is on Carlton after a season that has seen them rise from wooden spooner winners last year to potential premiers in 2019.

An asterisk has to be attached to that of course, and that is to note that the Blues wouldn’t have made it into the finals equation were it not for the heavily imbalanced conference system.

Last week’s dominant win over the Fremantle Dockers however will give the Blues confidence that they can compete with the better teams in the league, and they had a close one with the Crows during the home-and-away season.

The form of No.3 draft pick Madison Prespakis has summed the Blues’ season up well – she seems to get better every week and will undoubtedly be not just the Rising Star but probably an All Australian selection.

Carlton also boast Tayla Harris and Darcy Vescio up forward, giving them enough star power to potentially cause an upset.

Prediction
While most of the talk has been about Carlton’s potential to snatch a win here, I’m sceptical there’s any real chance of that. The Crows have hardly put a foot wrong all season and were absolutely dominant at this ground last weekend. Expect them to win and probably by a comfortable margin.

Quite remarkable - they got more than 5 NRL games this weekend (penrith, souths, canberra, nth qld, manly). Although, it has to be noted it was free, but even with free tickets quite an amazing turnout.

Crows going to cruise to the premiership here in the final quarter, but they'll be doing with without Chloe Scheer and Erin Phillips who have both gone off with what look like serious knee injuries.

Adelaide copping a few injuries today... hope they maintain their effort and don't let this get to them. Blues have to step up and take the opportunities that present.

This is terrible - Erin Phillips has gone down with what looks like a bad knee injury. Play being stopped so they can bring out a stretcher. This is awful.
