The last game of the 2020 home-and-away season sees the Collingwood Magpies try to block the Port Adelaide Power from claiming the minor premiership. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:15pm (AEST).

Collingwood’s spot in the top eight is assured, with the only thing to left to play for being their positioning within the lower bracket. A win tonight would give them a ‘home’ final against St Kilda; either in Brisbane, Adelaide or the Gold Coast, whereas a loss means they finish eighth and will have to play West Coast in Perth.

Port Adelaide have locked up the double chance and home qualifying final, but a loss tonight would see them finish second after finishing every other round of the home-and-away season in first – while also setting up a date with Richmond. A win, on the other hand, sees the Power finish first and take on Geelong in the first week.

The Magpies have taken the points in the two most recent meetings between these sides, prevailing by 39 points at Marvel Stadium last year and by 51 at the MCG in 2018. Port had won four in a row prior to that, however. Collingwood have not defeated the Power outside of Melbourne since a 138-point win in 2011.

Surely over Summer the Pies can reinvent his role to be more than a high forward. He was chosen over Aaron Naughton as a top ten pick so unless he gets us Jeremy Cameron the club would be mad to trade him. He has star quality and had glandular fever in preseason so I guess one poor year at his age can be excused. You don't see many footballers genuinely scared on the field though so it is a concern.

I get that. I remember when I was a young Realist, as a skinny 19 yo playing suburban football I was the same. It took a couple of big summers in the gym to give me the size and confidence to really compete.

Not sure how the Tiges earned anything with regards to their 'home' final. Port vs Collingwood dictated that last night.

No need to be thankful… the Tigers earned the “home” final by beating the Cats. Cats were lucky to make the top 4….Swans probably should have won. Shades of last year with Geelong’s form tapering off again. Looks like a tricky Semi coming up against WCE.

Yes! Coaching and tactics must be questioned. It's all very well for the coach to say after the match we over handballed but the team plays the way the coach has set them up during the week. Lost count on the number of times we handballed to players less than a metre away when that player was probably in a worse position. The team is too scared to kick long to a contest and to put faith into a system where players should be in certain positions most of the time. I know that Stevo had a poor game but when you look back on the year I don't think WHE, Thomas, Brown brothers, Varcoe had faired any better. Crisp continues to fumble the ball at crucial stages and continually wants to take players on rather than kick the ball. Very frustrating to watch! The Pies will give it a real shot out west but the current game style will ultimately leave them short.

Don’t refer back to home and away games as they are not good indicators at what could happen in finals. Yes Bulldogs beat Eagles but that was a game the Eagles lost as to how badly they played and not Bulldogs winning. Finals are a new season.

Saints and Dogs not a chance - you are dreaming. They are a class below all top 5. Both out of the finals very quickly.

Just be thankful your boys get the soft draw, instead of losing to Port again.

He is scared on the field bracing for the hit. High forward his role was often running to the goals in speed. Moved up the ground in scrum footy he is being hammered and is fearful on the field of the big bodies. Quite an issue to deal with over Summer. Hasn’t the frame to muscle up.

What a classy comment Gerry. I wish I could keep classy when disappointed by the Pies. I certainly hope we at least make the game worthy of a final.

Liam Ryan, Jamie Cripps and NIC Nat aswell as the return of Shuey and continued improvement of Kelly that's a good amount of X factor, everyone except for Yeo took part in full training so no need to go OTT on the injuries issue as I think you'll find the boys have been very well managed by the sports science Dept. I don't think any team is going to take anyone lightly because it's finals.

Something very very likeable about Bucks. Obviously don’t know him, but just the vibe he gives off - a good vibe. Think he looks quite worried. But understandable, hasn’t had the best year.

I can tell you now anybody who writes off Collingwood just because the Eagles are at hone are crazy. They have beaten us at home before and certainly are more than capable. I don’t think there have been many games where we went that extra gear. Finals football is a whole new game. It would be an upset and a bit of sweet revenge for the GF loss. My gut feeling says although we are trying hard we just have not got that X factor. Injuries have just got us this year at the wrong time. Not that I am making excuses. We do have a habit of dropping games we are expected to win. The Hawthorn debacle last year was just that. I don’t want to put a damper on our chances but Collingwood backed into a desperate corner are a very dangerous side indeed and capable of upsetting the best even Richmond. We would have beaten the Bulldogs. I am not so sure about the Maggie’s though. Peter would disagree but secretly I think he’s playing the Pies chances down hoping for a wonderful upset. I prefer always to be the underdog that gets up rather than the favourite expected to win. Good luck to Bucks and Peter and may the best team on the day win. I would hold no grudges if Eagles lose. It would be a deserved victory for the Pies .

See you soon Collingwood, will be a better game than vs Bulldogs who cannot get within 40 points of either wa sides at Optus stadium. Let the real footy begin.

Nico, are you me? Literally agree with everything you say there. The Saints winning will be very 2016 Bulldogs-esque, because it's so unlikely and will be wholly unexpected. I'm really surprised at your pessimism with the Eagles. I know the fifth spot makes it tricky, but if they win in Perth against the Pies (seemingly more likely than not) and garner a few players back from injury, you surely know your team can make a splash in finals.

Think GF will be between: Port, Richmond, Lions. Hard to pick who misses, but probably Port. Tigers clear favourites. Gee I hope I’m wrong! Actually hope it’s one of Lions, or Dogs or Saints - i.e., An underdog being overlooked. Saints winning would be a total fairytale that I can totally get onboard with. Though Faages and his Lions seem most deserving in my books. If they win everyone will say it’s tainted because they hardly left Brisbane. But I think they’d be more than worthy Premiers.
