Toby Greene is back from his infamous six-week suspension just in time for GWS to take on St Kilda… but with the Giants 1-4, his return might have come too late. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).
The Giants have been counting the cost of Greene’s absence ever since he was handed his suspension for bumping umpire Matt Stevic during their thrilling elimination final win over Sydney last year.
With just one win in his time out, the club’s struggles have piled pressure on coach Leon Cameron; no doubt Greene, officially named co-captain during the summer after excelling as a stand-in for Stephen Coniglio last year, is hungry to make amends.
The star forward’s return comes at a vital time, with spearhead Jesse Hogan managed out of trip to Canberra. Ruckman Braydon Preuss is also back from a one-week suspension, while defender Isaac Cumming has left COVID isolation to front up.
The Giants’ start to the year couldn’t have been more different to that of the Saints, who have won four games in a row to sit pretty in the top four.
In red-hot form and with key contributors across the board, from captain Jack Steele to goalsneak Jack Higgins and the speedy Jack Sinclair (yes, they have a lot of Jacks), the Saints will fancy their chances of continuing their run against the struggling Giants.
But Greene’s impact on this team is well known – can he bring about an instant lift for last year’s semi-finalists?

Nothing suspicious about this. Pure mathematics and statistical analysis. If you were to show the percentage of each game in a scattered plot you will see the "trend line" or average. You can't say 20 point win in a low scoring match accounts the same as a 20 point win in a high scoring match (percentage wise the former it's best).

Something wrong with the inputs.
Tassie.

True Rowdy, Last week the Saints had a % of 132.3% They win by 17 pionts & % drops down to 131.7%. I know maths is not my strong suite but :/

Numbers are not plastic. If you win, your percentage goes up. It's an incontrovertible law.

for 300 ag 150 -> 200% next game score 300 def 299 600 / 499 -> 120% get it?

Very possible with a small winning margin

Choosing to "manage" Hogan was strange. He's a 2/3 goal a game forward. That was the difference.

Speaking of rules. When are the umpires going to clamp down on throwing? Saints are almost as bad as tigers. Get tackled, throw the ball 30 metres forward. Annoys me muchly.

Cameron needs to go. Should have been shown the door years ago. All this talent just withering on the vine.

Mathematically impossible

Yep

Agree.......Cameron needs to find the right mix. Not sure what it is. I think the last qtr, Taranto who is a really good player, just didn’t play team footy in the forward 50. Then the Saints just closed the game down.

We are not being coached well right now. Gone a long way backwards from 3 years ago and last year

Saints remind me of the Tigers in 2017. Shock to miss finals the previous year. Coach under question and when they win games, no-one has any respect for them. Just have to make the top 4 - who knows
Tassie.
Roar Rookie
Interesting. Saints win & their % drops.
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Yes. That seems to be the problem. So much more talent than the Saints.

Giants are not team players.....a team of good players not a good team.

Press and the mids had such a disconnect. Won near every stoppage but to who?
