Footy takes no break, as Round 11 begins tonight. The Port Adelaide play the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:10pm (AEST).

After a disappointing loss at home, the Power got themselves back on track last week with a clinical dismantling of Melbourne at The Gabba. Port held the Demons goalless in the first quarter and never looked back, maintaining their hold on the ladder’s top spot with a 51-point triumph.

The Western Bulldogs are coming off a horrid loss against the reigning premiers last Wednesday night. The Doggies showed very little effort in that clash, certainly much less so than during what had been a run of good form beforehand.

Port have played just twice at home this year, knocking off the hapless Crows in Round 2, but falling to the Saints in Round 8. They lost to the Bulldogs at this venue last year too, but had won the previous three meetings between the sides prior to that.

Yeah and we missed a heap of goals as well - 12 to be precise. The umpires smashed us in the premiership quarter. There's plenty of reasons why we should have won too. Like I wrote above, if you can convince me that the Toby Maclean decision was correct I'll swallow my pride and be as gracious as you like.

There's crap umpiring every week, it's not the reason your team lost, I just thought you were very ungracious in defeat. Port clunked 25 odd contested marks, you guys had about 6, Ports pressure acts in the last half were way above the Bulldogs. Port came off a shorter break than the Bulldogs, and we missed all those goals from less than 20m out. Port smashed you in the premiership quarter then went defensive in to the forth, that was game plan, we were super tired, it wasn't Bulldogs domination There's plenty of reasons why Port should have won that game, there were also plenty of umpiring decisions that went against us. you were just blinded by your bias. You got beaten by the team on top of the ladder mate, not that hard to understand.

That about sums it up. I don't know why the Dogs aren't playing Schache or Young whilst Naughton is out. No team wins with only one key forward; particularly one who can't take a mark or kick. Done at the selection table, yet again.

No Port would never have won by 40. The Dogs kicked 5.12 to 8.7 - that was the difference. They missed many more chances than Port. My dismay toward the umpires isn't just my bias towards my team; I see it every week, in most games. One team gets a run on of soft or plainly wrong free kicks and it's almost invariably the difference. I think it was 5 free kicks to none in the third quarter, which is when the game was won. If you can convince me that the free kick against Toby Maclean for a push on centre wing was there I'll swallow my pride and give your team all the praise you want. Toby actually thought the free kick was for him! I can't for the life of me work out how the umpire came to the conclusion it was a free kick when the Port player jumped over Maclean; at no stage was Maclean even behind him; he didn't even have the opportunity to push him! Incompetent umpiring is ruining our game and I've had enough of it.

yeah the Saints did well with that one considering how well King has come on ( can't wait for the king battle this week) what's frustrating is that he so so so little with many oppurtunities and many of those 150's hit him, he just couldn't clunk a mark (well one) and once the ball hit the ground he was useless. They dropped Gowers despite him doing more last week, Bruce has to be dropped this week for Dickson, I get that Bruce will never be a number one power forward but anything remotley resembling a forward would be better than what he's producing.

Just scrolled back through the comments, you were the only one bleating about it all night. Maybe last week’s hiding was the umps as well, it’s a conspiracy. Port should have won by about 40 if Gray, SPP, George and Westhoff kick all those absolute sitters. But yeah, umpires, blah, blah, umpires

He was structurally important for a while but Max King has been an upgrade on him, especially long term. He was always inconsistent and I reckon Tim Membrey’s support up forward helped him have solid years, where he would kick around 40 goals. He is really struggling to be the only target up there for the dogs. Don’t think he has much upside and maybe Schache should get a game. Saints wanted to keep him and I think he was contracted so they had the right to play hard ball and get more for him but internally they were probably resigned to the fact he was going and to be honest it was appropriate what they got for him in the end and it was a smart decision to offload him. Battle, King, Membrey, Marshall, Ryder etc. are all far better than him and it cleared cap space.

So you’re saying Port only won because of the umps, righto, must of been watching a different game to me What was it 23 I50’s to 6 or something like that in the 3rd, clearly the umpires were kicking it for them.

Their decison to offer Bruce a 4 year contract, when he has always been a lacklustre forward raised a few eyebrows. I always thought it was a good idea by the Saints to offload him long term, although I thought it might affect them structurally initially but Max King has proven to be a big upgrade on him. It was very predictable after that North game, where he kicked 6 goals that he would not do anything for at least a month as he would do the same at St Kilda after playing a good game where he would kick 4 or 5 goals. He has hit rock bottom with his confidence and is easily having the worst year in his career due to not getting any support. Membrey was the reason why he could kick 35-40 goals a year at the Saints but he is clearly not cut out to be the main guy. The Dogs are badly missing Aaron Naughton and losing him has put a big dent in their year unfortunately. Need Naughton back asap. Disappointing for them they lost tonight after playing pretty well but couldn’t take their chances.

He kinda has always been trash, as long as I’ve been watching him. (Since 2017) he even took a year off to “improve” / was injured. But I remember him writing to that kid saying he’s taking time off to improve. (2018 I think). He was slightly better last year, but still unimpressive. Don’t know why St Kilda wanted huge returns for him.

I thought they were good but like you the forward line was non existent. Should of been up by plenty in the first half. I don't think Josh Bruce is the answer for them.

That one hurt, the dogs kicked themselves out of it early, Port to good in offense, the midfield battle was great. Dixon's marking was awesome and if he keeps it up should be in AA contention. For the dogs, it's great to see the improvement from Wallis, Macrae keeps doing Macrae things and Smith (of the Bailey sort) kept trying. Bruce needs a spell in the 2s, or 3s, or 4s should the opportunity arise. He's well off confidence right now, maybe have him training against 5 year olds, that might help.

They dominated 3 quarters; the umps dominated the third; that was the difference. How could that free kick against Toby Maclean for a push even be possible? He was never even behind the port player; the port player jumped over him. Staggering.

Yeah fair, I had the forward line in mind when I wrote that. They really could‘Ve made that final term competitive but some of their kicking in F50 was horrid. The final five scores of the game being Bulldogs behind proves my point...
