Melbourne can entrench themselves in the top four with a win over a Richmond outfit desperate to keep their top-eight hopes on track. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:20pm (AEST).
In what looks the best of the Sunday matches, the Tigers face the Demons at the home of football looking for a win to keep their hopes alive after what has been an up and down season.
A stunning last-gasp win against the Hawks in Round 19 has seen the Tigers build a three-match winning streak; however, today is a seriously difficult proposition against a Melbourne team that finally seems to be living up to expectations late in the season.
The Dees are also on a three-match winning streak, holding off Adelaide last round and beating Brisbane in a similarly tough match just a week prior. Even without Bayley Fritsch and Clayton Oliver, Melbourne have been able to get the job done and certainly look likely to finish in the top four come the end of the season.
Brodie Grundy will sit out for yet another week as the Dees also omit Ben Brown, with Harrison Petty stepping into his role. James Harmes is back, in what is a important boost for the Demons.
For the Tigers, Jayden Short was originally named after three weeks on the sideline, but has since been withdrawn.
Prediction
While the smart money will certainly be heading the way of Melbourne in this clash, the Tigers are far from without a hope. Managing to stay with the Dees in the opening half could well set up another situation where the Tigers’ flare, passion and energy sees them storm home late, just as they have done in recent weeks.
Melbourne will be looking to be far more clinical and have the Tigers chasing their tail right from the opening bounce. The Dees should simply have too much quality and will run out 34 point winners.

We only get a 5 day break, AFL have worked the fixture. I seriously don’t how Jack and Cotchin can back up. I’m hoping they are dropped with Nank and Short back in the team.

FULL-TIME It was a 32 point win in the end for the Demons, yet the Tigers were in the contest until the final ten minutes. The Dees have reminded the competition that they are still in the hunt for the 2023 flag and the weekend of upsets has set things up perfectly for the final month of the season. I’m gonna call it. Cox was the best ruck I’ve seen in AFL history. It’s now Gawn. He’s too good.
