The Western Bulldogs will host the Carlton Blues at Marvel Stadium on Easter Sunday, with the Blues still searching for a win in 2019. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 1:10pm AEST.

In Round 4, the Western Bulldogs lost to Collingwood by 14 points as the Bulldogs struggled to move the ball forward and hit the scoreboard in the opening half. They got going after the break, before the Pies came home too strong.

It was a scrappy Friday night clash, riddled with errors and about as uninspiring as AFL gets, but the Bulldogs couldn’t hold on for a surprise win over the Magpies.

Last weekend Carlton also suffered a loss, dropping a thriller by two points to the Suns at Metricon Stadium.

Carlton had seemingly sealed the match late in the fourth term, but a snapped goal by Jack Bowes in the dying seconds secured a third Suns victory and dealt the Blues their fourth consecutive loss.

At selection there were a few changes for the sides this week.

The Western Bulldogs will blood two debutants against the Blues, midfielder Will Hayes and defender Lachie Young, who came to the club through the NAB AFL and Rookie Drafts, respectively.

Bailey Williams also returns to the side.

The Bulldogs will be without Taylor Duryea (hip) and Matthew Suckling (groin), who are ruled out with injuries.

Josh Schache has been omitted.

Carlton also have three changes, with Matthew Kreuzer, Cameron Polson and Jack Silvagni all returning to the side.

The Blues lose Will Setterfield to a two-week suspension for rough conduct against the Suns’ Wil Powell in the second quarter of last weekend’s loss.

Matthew Lobbe and Levi Casboult have been dropped from Carlton’s 22, but are named as emergencies.

The last time these teams met was in round six, 2018 where the Bulldogs notched up a 21-point win over the struggling Blues.

Almost a year on and Carlton find themselves in a similar position, in desperate need of a win.

Prediction
Carlton let their best chance slip last weekend, but if they can get a slightly off Bulldogs at Marvel on Sunday they could battle for a scrappy win.

The Bulldogs started this year strong, but have lost their movement forward in the last two weeks. They know they can’t drop this game and they won’t.

Bulldogs by 23 points.

That's right last week it was Bolton and Pyke, before that it was Worsfold next week it will be B.Scott and Longmuir. Who is next ?

Those who believe are routed on anyway. I would much prefer to talk about the positives of the blues than point out the inaccuracies of the negatives

It creates a sense of solidarity amongst those who believe in what is taking place, your behaviour when Carlton direction is questioned is case in point. you're looking for an argument Macca and that's ok but negative and positive press issue an absolute boon for a clubs press Dept.

Yeah because nothing sells memberships like calls for the coach to be sacked and constantly being told you are years from being competitive. The blues have a record membership because the supporters believe in what SOS and Bolton are doing, not because the media want the sacked.

It'll just be focussed on Brad Scott now or Longmire as it is quite constantly.

Those sort of articles have also help create the us is against the world attitude that leads to record membership Pete, media is a double edged sword but one the club's no doubt need.

He won't be going anywhere, but his seat deserves to be getting hot. Record since winning the flag is very poor and making that flag look more and more like the fluke a lot of people claimed it to be at the time. And it isn't just the record, the unhappiness, lack of effort and head scratching list and selection calls.

Just watched this replay while my partner drove us home. Well done Blue-Baggers! A resounding victory that should hopefully shut the journos up for a couple of weeks.

No doubt Macca. I stumbled on The Roar sometime in 2017 and I'd say conservatively since then there have been around 40 articles calling for Boltons head?

Sorry that was meant for Macca, yeah they'll be going for him particularly given Barretts history with Bevo. Hopefully they can give a better showing next week against Freo

I didn't say bevo was going anywhere, it was a comment on fact media will line him up soon enough especially if they get pummeled by Freo next week. Barrett will be first in line I'd reckon.
