I see AFL legend, Jed Lamb (yeah, who?) has taken to Twitter to character assassinate Grimes. Labelling his actions as “putrid” & calling for a lengthy suspension. Lamb was an abject failure at four clubs. Quite a record. I can only imagine he must’ve been towelled up by Grimes on a regular basis.
Is Hipwood clever enough to think that by giving him a little bump, Grimes might have over reacted and he might have won a 50m for Cameron? If so, he was outsmarted.
These are the sort of games players try and in this case it back fired.
Grimes dive looks ugly but a fine is all you can hand out in these situations - not worthy of a suspension.
They shouldn't call exaggerated contact staging, but regardless there must be 20 players a match who exaggerate contact to make sure the ump sees a free. So do we suspend them all?
the lions bloke should not have come in like that after they got the free kick an knock over the tiger footballer it dosent matter whether he staged it or not they lost the free kick right in front of goal how dumb is that as for the commentators remarks yeah fine the lion player for doing it in the first place then it will cut out that rubbish
They are both anti Richmond, but did they praise a Richmond player for good sportsmanship when a Lions player was hurt, and went and checked if they where ok.
Sure what Grimes did was stupid and he is being reprimanded, however Hipwood's act is exceptionally stupid.
The best small forward in the game has ball in hand with a very achievable shot and what does he do? He attacks Grimes and has the opportunity reversed utterly dumb and you don't win finals with stupidity like that!
He deserves censure and sanction.
Regardless of previous umpire error,like Martin's throw, it looked rank.

Grimes shouldn't feel too guilty after the rubbish free kick to Cameron in the first place. After complaining about non existent holdin in round 23 Fagan got his wish of a cheap free kick to Cameron. Fortunately the umpires didn't fall for it all game, like he hoped.
I am not sure why the umpire would think that warranted a reversal in the first place as it was a gentle bump, but you have to wonder why players need to "give it" to opponents after they give away a free kick. It is a silly thing that has crept into the game.

I doubt Richmond would have wasted Grimes' talent on Lamb. The probably brought in a first gamer each time to ease them in to the big league.
