Quite simply . . . no. Knee jerk reaction to the ensuing injury.

You must be JOKING Thom???
"with the intent to hurt her"
"calling it careless is generous"
Both those comments are grossly exaggerated!

To be suspended for 1/3 of the season for that is utterly ridiculous! Ebony hardly went at the player - she followed the ball with her eyes the entire time, the GWS player contributed to the high tackle as much as Ebony. This must be challenged and re-assessed, x 1 game is the correct suspension - even then I'm not sure what else Ebony could do
Seems to be a collision of 2 players who don't have much idea or how to attack the ball and protect themselves and their opponent with the player who got injured most at fault.
Seems the AFL want to perpetuate the myth that you only get hurt playing AFL if someone breaks the rules so nervous mums still let their kids (in this case girls) play.
where is the incident? if this ridiculous penalty is going to be handed out for doing nothing wrong then this great game of ours is in deep trouble . utter dumbness
Did the AFLW match review/tribunal give the reason as why the 3 weeks?
It looks like the Ebony Marinoff didn’t do to much wrong in the play and Brid Stack runs into the bottom of Marinoff arm, after picking up the ball.
hmmmm hard one to call.
The injury is why the suspension is so long. But it's not in the same ball park as andrew gaff, nor a barry hall.
Is there better vision than were seeing? After watching the vision we have a few times, thinking three might stand - she should have gone for the ball, not the player.
AFLW match review and the tribunal are exactly the same as AFLM except consideration is given to the short length of the fixture when determining length of suspensions. 3 weeks is roughly equivalent of 7 weeks in the men's game, which for context is what Barry Hall got for breaking Brent Staker's jaw.
Ebony Marinoff has never been suspended before, so the determination of 3 weeks is not affected by carry-over points. 2 matches has been the longest previous suspensions because seasons have only been 8 matches long. Fining players in AFLW is tricky too because their salary is pitifully low and taking any of it away is a harsh disincentive.
The facts are the Marinoff clattered into Brid Stack, who was playing her first competitive game of footy after a long Gaelic Football career, with the intent to hurt her. Calling it careless is generous, severe impact is more related to the injury than the action, while it was undoubtedly high.
The Crows are appealing the suspension, which unlike Bachar Houli's debacle of an appeal this cannot be lengthened.

An extremely tough over the top penalty. 50m would be enough but not a suspension. Not even 1 week. 3 weeks? Ludicrous!!!!

Feel sorry for the GWS player but that contact would happen 10 times a game.....
