Richmond supporter here.
A dangerous tackle is a tackle gone wrong. It's a football act. Deliberately hitting somebody in the back of the head when they are laying on the ground is a cheap-shot. It's completely outside the scope of play and spirit of the game. Even a high bump is a footballing act gone wrong.
Well, you'll just have to take it up with the AFL. They created the precedent. Also, if you think that should have been a suspension then Harris Andrews should have received a week for his dangerous tackle... actually 2 weeks as he was fined double that of Lynch.
But really, you are sounding bit like a salty Lions supporter.
Should never have been a week. A fine is appropriate. Why are you so keen to rub players out of the game for such minor indiscretions? Don't we want the stars of the game actually playing and not sitting on the sidelines?
Yeah I don’t agree with a $500 fine for a guy who earns close to a million, but whatever. If the afl are happy with that sort of thing in the game good luck to them, I’m not the one who has to worry about the optics
Well I do hope my boys can come good tonight. Don't think they will kick 19.5 but as long as they kick more than 1.8 North will take that as coming good against the Cats.
You're mad if you are expecting him to get off based on consistency or precedent. Have you even been following match review decisions this season? It looked bad, it meets several grading criteria as mentioned earlier: therefore, let the lottery commence. Anything from no sanction at all to two weeks is in play, let's see where the wheel of misfortune lands...
Spot on Yat. It's becoming ludicrous. It's funny, Umps pay obscure accidental 50m infringements. Yet deliberate strikes (however mild) and professional time wasting by not getting off someone or not giving the ball back are ignored. And players know no one will belt them. Then we have to put up with the commentators going ga ga about how well defences are set up.
The AFL had a chance to send a message regarding this sort of behavior last year with Greene's treatment of Bontempelli and they squibbed it so they've only got themselves to blame. Impossible to suspend Lynch here. As I said, fine at worst.
Not in the contest, moderate impact, intentional, head high contact; I think it will be a fine at the least not at worst. May get just a fine but would not surprise me if he got a week. Don't want to see that week in week out or eventually someone will get hurt.

I think everyone missed what the most suitable penalty would have been - a free kick against Lynch.

Agree Slane. Still never will be worth a week though!

$500 is not enough but a week (a game) is probably too much. It is what it is.

Because he deliberately attacked the head of an opposing player, that should always be a suspension in my opinion regardless of what his name is

Should’ve been a week, or at the very least a bigger fine. $500 is extremely generous.

As I predicted, a $500 slap on the wrist for Big Tom. Move on.

This behaviour is becoming norm. I saw Cotchin do it too. They should either reverse the free, give 50 or grant a free so that it is stopped.

Yep good player but this sort of stuff, which he has done before, just makes him look like a try hard dill.
