Round 6 of the NRL premiership continues tonight when the Brisbane Broncos take on the Canberra Raiders at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.35pm (AEST).

If we looked at this match up before the season started, we would have thought it would be a close hard fought game. 6 weeks down the track, we have Team 1 vs Team 16. Canberra’s season is not on the line yet, but another loss here just ups the pressure notch that little bit further.

The Broncos have held plenty of potential over the last few seasons. That potential seems to have been realised this year, last displayed by a 46-12 win over the Tigers. Fair enough, the Tigers are diabolical this year but Brisbane dismantled them.

Their pack is headlined by two of the best in the game, Patrick Carrigan and Payne Haas, whilst Adam Reynolds is enjoying an injury free run and is steering his team around the park. With plenty of go forward, the Broncos classy backline is running amok.

Part of the reason for the Broncos early season success is stability in the team make up, and Kevin Walters again has the luxury of naming an unchanged 17.

Ricky Stuart must be wondering what has happened to his side. The Raiders have just the solitary win and were towelled up 53-12 by the Panthers at home last start. It was humiliating, and Stuart will be expecting a reaction from his team tonight.

They still have arguably the best front row in the competition with Joseph Tapine and Josh Papali’i, but something is clearly missing. The halves are part of the problem, with suspension and injury impacting this pairing from week to week.

In an effort to play a game based on emotion, Jarrod Croker will play his first game of NRL for nearly a year. Brad Schneider comes in at 5/8th for the injured Matt Frawley, with Jack Wighton still suspended. Corey Horsburgh has been named at lock, with Corey Harawira-Naera coming off the bench.

Prediction

Ricky will have his troops fired up but I think there is a large gulf in class. If the Broncos can match the Raiders up front, this could get ugly. I think Brisbane will come away with a comfortable win,

I was hoping for that sort of effort last night Taree – particularly after that awful capitulation last week. Everyone was desperate for that win and it showed on the scoreboard at the end. Can’t agree with you on Jack. He is all effort. We just need to use him better and he needs to share the ball around more. Jamal Fogarty really stepped up in Jack’s absence and Horse was amazing. I think we have found a 13 at last. If Jack goes it will be due to other factors such as lifestyle choice or for his missus to be closer to family. Ricky ad the club couldn’t do any more to keep him. After watching efforts like that why would he wan to leave? Jack is a Raider through and through.

Stick with the original profile name, mate. You had it first. Or perhaps Tony the Raider? I won't get confused from this point so I don't change on my account.

Geoff, I'm back, for some reason I couldn't sign in for the past two weeks. What a past few weeks it was. Last night before the game my wife got her Raiders jersey on & was pumped for the footy. I dragged my feet, truely expecting a severe flogging. I did put on the mighty 'Video Easy' Raiders jumper on from the early 90's. What a game. As a fan, that's exactly what I expect from the Raiders. I really don't care if we win or loose, I just want to see them give their guts. Big Red was amazing. Ricky should make them all apologise to Joe Tarpanie for their weak effort last week. On the Jack Wighton front. Do we really need him @ 1.1 Million per season over 4 years? Last night was he really missed. The only thing I would be sure of is at least two kicking errors, either out on the full or over the dead ball line. If Ricky want's Jack at that price, put a deadline on the offer & stop stuffing around. Give him until next Friday to sign or take the offer away. If he stays I guess that's good, but if he doesn't want to be there that's good too. I've never seen Jarrod Croaker play that good. It was great to see, his defence was excellent, it was good to see. Trouble is where do you put him when Savage get's back? Timoko & Chris deserve to be there. What a problem to have. Maybe put Chris at 5/8 & release Jack to the Dolphins. I loved every moment of last nights game. It was tense but I had the feeling as the game went on that a win was the only result possible. Did I mention the Referee? Very ordinary, he did us not one favour. The incident with Rapana was nothing other than a penalty. The point everyone didn't mention was that if he didn't get knocked out by the knee he wouldn't have dropped the ball!!!!!! What a night.

Thought Ricky was pretty good in the presser. The Raiders have had massive disruptions in the spine all year so to come out and win like that was encouraging as a supporter. I made a comment a few days ago that the team needed to show something tonight – if they were on the end of another thrashing it could have been seen as an indication that Ricky had lost the dressing room. Sounds as though the senior players including Josh Papalii took a bit of owner ship for the embarrassing second half last week. And the whole team responded tonight. Great to see. Jeez I hope Jordie Rapana is OK. He’s a massive player for the club. And thought Ricky made some good comments about the Jack Wighton situation. The club has made a decent offer and if Jack goes it won’t be because the club hasn’t tried to keep him. And sounds as though Ricky is still burning at the way Anthony Milford left all those years ago.

Boo hoo. Barry knew the actual rules. It’s funny how NSW cried about international ref’s and QLD ref’s but only rated blokes like Hollywood Harigan because he made sure the Blues won with selective interpretations.

Gutsy win by the Raiders. Great to see Croker back in the side...a true team man who bleeds green for the club. Hopefully this sparks the men from Canberra into action but not getting my hopes up. They are still on the back foot after losing 4 of their first 5 matches.

The Grasshopper never ever gave NSW a chance irrespective of which Blues player was involved. He only looked for opportunities to penalise NSW. It would be like throwing Nick Politis the whiste to referee a Roosters vs Rabbitohs game.

Too true! Great defence, Great game! I think Croaker is one of the most intelligent mid-fielders in the game!
