Suncorp Stadium hosts its first game since Magic Round as Brisbane Broncos take on their little brothers Gold Coast Titans in the third Queensland derby of the year. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.50pm AEST.
The last time these two sides played was one of the wildest South Queensland derbies in the history of the NRL. After leading 22-0 before the 20th minute, the Titans conceded 36 unanswered points and despite David Fifita scoring late, the Broncos came up triumphs 36-28 at Suncorp Stadium.
However, a lot has changed for both teams since this clash over a year ago. The Titans are on a downward spiral after a spirited finals finish last year while the Broncos are five games unbeaten including a demolition of top four hopefuls Cronulla Sharks and 2021 runners up South Sydney Rabbitohs. With Adam Reynolds ruled out for a second week straight, the responsibility will fall on Tyson Gamble and teenager Ezra Mam to run the show for the Broncos.
The Titans have lacked any sort of direction with halves pairing AJ Brimson and Toby Sexton struggling to make inroads against opposition defences. Ever since Jamal Fogarty was allowed to leave, the Titans don’t look anywhere near as threatening with the ball like they did last season. And that’s a big reason as to why they’re 13th now. The Titans will miss the services of Phillip Sami through injury, however David Fifita is named on the extended bench as he races against time to prove to Billy Slater that he’s ready for Origin selection.
Prediction
If Reynolds was fit and starting, I’d be tipping the Broncos to annihilate the Titans. However, his absence gives the Titans a chance although the Broncos start favourites. But, this is a derby and as we have seen in many sporting derbies across the world, you throw away form in derbies and focus on the present. The Broncos still have enough firepower across their team despite the absence of Reynolds and should get the job done at home.

Need to take a leaf out of Melboune's book. Make him stay for the full duration of his contract unless another club comes up with an equivalent player in exchange. As for his contract, Brisbane need to make sure they do not over pay for his services.

Mate, I’m not that brave taking $2.65 on the Titans v Bronx after what happened last year and how the Titans hold a 1/2 time 20 points lead  I’ve already had some big ones on Zaaki R5 Eagle Farm $2.00 that is a certainty and Visinary R8 Caulfield $4.00 tomorrow, which is an 100% more sensible bet than the Titans will ever will be. This game “needs an investigation” as someone from your mob said  as the Titans are a scandalous mess and not what their fans deserve!

I dunno what just happened I had Capewell score/broncos win, I thought I was gone on both, titans are way too big, to much weights not enough speed work.
 and expensive at that too

Thank you to all the Roarers who tuned in tonight. I definitely enjoyed calling this game. That's me done for this week. Until next time, farewell Roarers. We'll done, again, Arnab, another fine call. It was more interesting than the early game. A wins a win Broncos, even done the hard way. Strong 1st half Titans - pity about the 2nd.
