Round 23 of the NRL premiership concludes this afternoon when the Canberra Raiders take on the Wests Tigers at GIO Stadium in Canberra. Join The Roar for live scores from 4pm (AEST).

Canberra fullback Seb Kris was charged after taking out Kalyn Ponga in mid-air during Saturday’s home loss but he has avoided a ban by paying a $750 fine.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has dropped hooker Tom Starling from the interchange bench for rookie Adrian Trevilyan for Sunday’s meeting with the Wests Tigers.

Winger Nick Cotric comes in for Jarrod Croker (hamstring) with Seb Kris moving to centre and Jordan Rapana assuming fullback duties.

Tigers second-rower Shawn Blore and prop Stefano Utoikamanu are out due to concussions in the Tamworth loss to Souths.

Five-eighth Daine Laurie (knee) has been named to play while Justin Matamua and Asu Kepaoa have been added to the game-day line-up.

Prediction

The injury to Jarrod Croker is a blow for Canberra but the Raiders need to win to maintain their chance of a top-four berth so they should have too much motivation. Raiders by 4

Well the Raiders somehow managed to cling on again for a close win. Being a Raiders supporter isn't good for the health. I suspect my life expectancy has been cut by about 10 years a result. How they are sitting in 5th position on he NRL ladder is one of life's mysteries. Have to say the Tigers played pretty well. Some good signs for them even if they aren't getting the wins they'd like. Luke Brooks and Api Korisau were very good. Jack was 95% rocks. Jordan Rapana was simply amazing. It will be a dark and very sad day for the Raiders faithful when he finally hangs up the boots. Been my favourite player for some time. Whole hearted and courageous but skilled to boot.

Bad luck. Tigers really had a crack. Sometimes when you are on the bottom you just need a tiny bit of luck to go your way and unfortunately the Tigers just can't get any.

Once his body develops he will modify slightly to use upper body strength to press out of tackles. At present footwork and speed is his weapon but his light frame only requires a light grab to fell him.

Nofailua had to snatch the last ball and should have thrown all chance to the big man up there and snatched that ball...He did not trust his instinct to grab the ball without fear and it went up in air and he caught it with no space to move.

Raiders played to the whistle & decisions given. They’re lucky about those. West’s stopped a few times, waiting for decisions to be made ? Not a lot went their way.

These referees are deciding matches...The 6 again rule is nuts....teams wont kick long for fear of 7 tackle set but are suffering 18 and 24 tackle sets as the referee jockey's home a result.
