Two under-siege clubs face off on this Queen’s Birthday public holiday when the St George Illawarra Dragons take on the Canterbury Bulldogs. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:05pm (AEST).
Dragons coach Paul McGregor is under all kinds of pressure to turn around his side’s woeful start to the season. Losing the first two matches of the year was hardly ideal, but going scoreless against the Warriors last weekend has club supporters baying for change.
Mary has made a number of changes, shifting Corey Norman to fullback and Ben Hunt to five-eighth and bringing in debutant halfback Adam Clune. Matt Dufty has been dropped, as have Korbin Simms and Tyrell Fuimaono.
The Bulldogs were also on the end of a hammering last week, shipping 32 points against a rampant Manly side. Having built a reputation since halfway through 2019 as an honest defensive side – if an offensively challenged one – they’ll be looking to tighten things up against a Dragons outfit which has looked flat in attack all season.
There’s some good news on the selection front for Dogs fans, with Kieran Foran making his return from injury and slotting straight back into the halves.
Kick-off: 4:05pm (AEST)

It's a good question. If he went looking for a contract now, I doubt there would be many takers. I doubt even the Titans or Dogs would be interested. He might have some luck at the Tigers if they wanted someone to fill in for Benji and Reynolds till they find a young talent to understudy to Brooks. But they'd be mad to offer him anything over 150K a season. Luckily for him the Dragons are paying him a million bucks a season (lol) because I doubt there's going to be much first grade football for him after this contract expires.

Absolutely pathetic Dragons ..... goodbye Mary

Good point but - in mac's defence;- It's good to just see points on the board; there was no surety of a try; there was no surety the ball would be held long enough to score. NB Almost every time I've seen this scenario (including Bunnies v Storm, Raiders in last year GF), the 2 hasn't been taken and the opportunity lost. ALWAYS take the 2.

It's called Titan territory.. and the Titans are in a mess because of it. A relaxation club for overpaid retirees.

Well he was starting halfback for the Qld State of Origin team a short time back. Soon you'll see him winning games again for St G and you will be happy.

Three minutes in and the Bulldogs are penalised three metres from their line a metre wide of the goalposts after the Dragons ran the ball the length of the field. To my amazement the Dragons decided to kick for goal and I'm still struggling with why they would do this. The captain must've decided they had no chance of scoring a try so they had to make every penalty count.

If the Gordons don't stump up and pay him out, the club is in for a few years of challenging for the spoon. They can't attract players without a good coach, their few good players will want to go elsewhere, their overpaid players have no incentive to play hard and the cycle continues.

Chivas isn't enough - I'm going full cask strength.

It's hardly their fault that some twit in the Dragon's hierarchy decided to pay them a lot of money. Serious question - would Hunt be starting half back for any other team in the NRL?

Heard Mary after the game - he’s a dead man walking, but at least he fronted the press. Some of those over paid players should be fronting.

Good on the Dogs, but the Dragons...it’s just horrible to watch.

Are you talking about the Dragons losing 7 straight? That's not right - they beat Titans last game of last season. That said, they are a chance of going through this season without a win.

Well that was just awful by the Dragons. Clearly playing with no confidence.

Water down Chivas. It's undrinkable straight.

There's a reason the Dragons are on the bottom - we just saw it. Speed & skill will beat brawn these days. I have no answer for them - don't think I'll bother with the press conference.

Well done Doggies., they looked so much better with Foran back. Adam Elliott looks like a real footy player. Don't lose him.

Well done doggies. We’ve lost 7 straight. Apparently for the first time in our short history. Next year is some centenary… ’twill be little to party about unless things change now. I’m seriously just out of tears and pep…
