Round 26 of the NRL premiership concludes this afternoon when the Newcastle Knights take on the Cronulla Sharks at McDonald Jones Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores at 4.05pm (AEST).
Knights halfback Jackson Hastings is a chance of playing this weekend after missing the win over Souths due to his syndesmosis injury although Adam Clune could again deputise for him.
Sharks front-rower Oregon Kaufusi (finger) is a chance to return, named in the reserves, otherwise Craig Fitzgibbon will stick with the same 17 which did the job against North Queensland.
This is the toughest match of the round to predict. Both teams head into the game with strong recent form and home-ground advantage could be decisive. Knights by 4

Mate I've seen a lot of footy across 3 codes and 5 decades. Trell is elite.

I think long term wise Warbrick will be let go of. Faalogo is coming through and he's too good to be let go, especially when he can play all positions as an outside back.

Well done Newcastle, big game and they couldn’t really have played much better. They controlled the game and didn’t panic, basically camped in the sharks half and just fatigued them. This Knights team is a very good side that can go deep into September. Plenty of learning for the sharks, good finals rehearsal but shows they’ve got plenty of areas to build on still. Another semi final game against Canberra to round out the regular season, hopefully Nicho back next Sunday arvo! Congrats choppy, Danielle and co – enjoy the win

Knights can rest some players next week, if they want to? Fifth or sixth, doesn’t really matter?

Knights fans ( and Tigers fans ) are the most loyal in the game . It's so good to see them get a bit of success. Well deserved. They were great today. Sharks ? Things didn't quite go their way but they have some work to do on their D . Way too easy at times.

Well done Knights. It's been a very long and rough ride from their last finals campaign. Feel good story of 2023.

It’s great for the game that the Knights are playing well and are going to the finals! Shame though that Joey Johns is commentating when that happens…

Newcastle pretty much perfect today, well controlled - knockout blow in the final 20 once the sharks fatigued after defending most of the game. Hopefully nicho back next week, plenty of learning for Cronulla in this game… shows where they are compared to competition peak at the moment.

Well done Knights. I'm off before I have to listen to more of Johns & Gus.

It's officially pouring for the Knights. How different it may have been if Nikora wasn't denied.

Looks like the Cronulla v. Canberra game is going to be rather interesting. Perhaps Ricky Stuart can try harder to get a $10K fine?

No chance to play their fast, pretty footy - just to much arm wrestle.

They have to turn up with this energy away from Newy though.
