Round 6 of the NRL concludes this afternoon with an Easter Monday clash between the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4pm AEST.
A more one-sided match would been hard to find in 2022, with the high flying Eels entering this fixture with just the lone loss to the Sharks in Round 2 and the winless Tigers floundering at the foot of the NRL ladder.
Logic says Parramatta win this one by the length of the straight and the bookies will have the visitors at long odds heading into what looks a walk in the park for the men in blue and yellow.
The Eels snuck home against the Titans last week, yet do have the impressive scalp of the Storm on their belts already this season. The Tigers were simply awful against the Sharks last time out and have scored just 42 points across five matches in 2022.
Pressure is building on coach Michael Maguire, the fans are at their wits’ end and the season looks to be yet another write-off in a growing period of disappointment for the merger that once promised so much.
Team news sees the Eels enter this fixture without Waqa Blake and Junior Paulo and the Tigers experimenting with Luke Brooks at five-eighth and Jackson Hastings into the side in the number seven jumper. That move reeks of desperation and the combination of Mitchell Moses, Dylan Brown and Reed Mahoney may well embarrass the scum base of the Tigers.
Despite a few players being unavailable for the Eels, Brad Arthur has his team humming along quite well at this stage of the season.
Prediction
Placing a bet on the Wests Tigers this season may well be the silliest thing any rugby league supporter could do. Frankly, they stink, and the repositioning of Brooks is utterly disrespectful and ignorant of the fact that the problems lie far more broadly across the squad.
Parramatta will win this in a canter on a firm track and in front of their passionate home fans.

Love me a scrum win against the feed with a push - how good was that

Hastings was brilliant but the whole team aimed up in effort. Loved seeing Laurie get under Gutho's skin

Great to see Madge come to life and crack a smile - poor bugger.

Small hiccup, theoretically this makes the Tigers a better team than the Storm. Parra will be OK

yes, but not to take away from the real focus of earlier than expected question mark about Parra 2022.

Laurie is one underestimated player by many. He rarely gets a mention when fullbacks are talked about and I don't know why. A natural footy player who may not reach his true potential at the Tigers but I really hope he does, he deserves it.

Their starting hooker got a bad leg injury mod-way through the second half.

Well done Tigers, good effort. I thought Laurie was excellent. Must be a massive relief for the players

Congrats mate. I was cheering them home for Madge's sake and because they deserved the win. Enjoy it while it lasts. Next week the Tigers play Souths and lightning doesn't strike twice when it comes to the Tigers. Well at least that's the hope. :silly:

On the positive side of things Ben the Eels are still one of the top 5 sides this year. This is a just speed hump for the Eels as I am expecting the Rabbitohs will be for the Tigers next week now that they have gotten their best game of the year out of the way.

Wow. Between that game and the Melbourne v Cronulla the other night we have had two brilliant games this round. Hastings had a game to remember and poor old Madge has had relief to his blood pressure. Well done Tigers and give us more of that.
