The gradually healing Sydney Roosters welcome the battling Brisbane Broncos to the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:55pm (AEST).

If there was one opponent the Broncos didn’t want to face after a tumultuous week in which they finally parted ways with Anthony Seibold, it’s the team who inflicted their worst ever loss earlier this season.

Not only was that 59-0 hammering the largest margin of defeat in club history, it was also the first time in the Broncos’ 281 appearances at Suncorp Stadium/Lang Park that they had ever been held scoreless. It was the moment everyone on the outside of the club realised how truly broken the Broncos really were and still are, so it’s strangely fitting that Seibold’s ignominious farewell would precede the return bout.

In further unhappy news for the Broncos, the home side welcome back skipper Boyd Cordner and Daniel Tupou, pushing Matt Ikuvalu out of the squad. For Brisbane, Anthony Milford is out with a hamstring injury and Issac Luke is suspended. Their places are taken by Sean O’Sullivan and Cory Paix, while Brodie Croft gets a recall via the bench.

The Broncos actually put in their best performance in months last week to go down by two points to the Dragons. That scoreline had threatened to get ugly after the Dragons kicked out to a breezy 12-point lead via two incredibly soft tries. Brisbane fought their way back into the game valiantly, and could easily have scored a drought-breaking win. They lost again though, and the margin of defeat this time could be a lot heavier.

I'm still crying. :-) Might be time to go back to real tackles and worry about the offloads later.

I've been 'supporting' hopeful for them this year. Thinking a decent game was just around the corner. Wonder how different things would be if they had beaten Cronulla... Anyway, I had to tune out, it was just too bad to watch.

I'd consider B-Moz to replace Bevan in the Team of the Century

Congrats to your team B-Suit, solid training run. They looked good. Don't forget Fitz and the Morris boys are Illawarra bred... :silly:

One of the missed opportunities of the game was to make him an Immortal

Should have sacked him months ago. I can only think the reason he hasn't is, there's no Intrust Super cup, so he'd be doing nothing.

The coach has been gone for 2 days. His systems remain. Until a brand new coach takes over and instills a new culture and style, the Broncos will continue to put up the same results.

Haas, Flegler, Paix, Coates, Farnworth, Niu, Riki, dearden, fifita, bullemor are young or inexperienced. Carrigan and Staggs are a little older and have performed well. And it's difficult to blame the fringe players who have lacked the luck or talent to break through and only have handful of games in their mid 20s. The problem with the experienced players is that they culled half of them. The smaller the set of experience, the greater the exposure to a player or two having a form slump or attitude problem. It's tough for the new coach. The team hasn't cultivated good, experience players at the 25 year mark and would struggle to buy experience.

Have a look at the completion rate stats on NRL.com for the last couple years. Roosters always have one of the worst. When your defence is as good as theirs is, you don't mind making an error trying to you the ante.

Given the injuries and selection, it was the only result. It borders on playing a school team. Herbie, paix, dearden, jordan riki, Fifita and ethan bullemor are at most 20 or 21. Maybe 4 of the others are good enough or established enough that they'd definitely get a jersey if they were at another club.

Two questions: Will anyone beat Irvine's record? Currently playing? Can Brett Morris catch Beaver before her retires?

I’ve also got a soft spot for the Tiges so, TL certainly cemented his place ,with his unacceptable grubbyness in 1989. But The King was a more a love hate thing ,,, loved him in the green n gold , but despised him in Maroon .

I think we all know some of the senior players need to be removed as well.

117-12 On a positive note, we won’t have to face them again in September.
