Round 4 of the NRL season gets underway tonight when the Sydney Roosters and Penrith Panthers square off at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:00pm (AEDT).
In an early season blow for the premiers, Nathan Cleary will miss several weeks with his hamstring injury. His place is taken by Brad Schneider in his club debut, whilst Mavrik Geyer replaces Scott Sorensen in what is his top grade debut.
The Roosters, on the other hand, look more settled, despite the loss of Lindsay Collins, with both Luke Keary and Sam Walker cleared to return.
The Roosters are in some fine form and may have a bit too much for a Panthers outfit, who will be trying to find their feet without their champion halfback. Roosters by 8

which, in other words, is what I said....

True, me too but when teams like the roosters constantly get all the calls and teams like yours and mine get railroaded, trust me it puts people off the game.

Yeah it weird, it’s like there could be some sort of rivalry between the two sides. First I’ve seen of it too.

Would have been 50 nil for the panthers if south's were playing them.

Yep, agree. Hugh discrepancy in running and post contact metres. Thankfully, for the Chooks, they won the penalty count 9-4 and they weren’t playing against Cleary and JFH.

I'm not in denial. Never had them finishing 1st,2nd or 3rd. 4th I thought maybe. At worst 5th. But they were terrible tonight and panthers deserved winners. It just makes me laugh, when a supporter of another team that is diabolical and 10 times worse than we are, talks about Roosters failings. Unless other teams improve and stay injury free, it's panthers premiership to lose

The answer is when the support player / decoy is behind the ball carrier…

Roosters deserved to lose by 60. Lousy Dom Young stealing premiership promising Anasta alumni.

At least many realise they are in a hole.. deeper hole than most but a hole is still a hole.

As mentioned last week, South’s will do well to avoid the spoon. No delusion here. No paper over the bunnies cracks, there for all to see. Some Chooks supporters and the media may be in denial about the tri colours, however.

Queensland halves: Sam Walker and Corey Norman (The view from the corner will be delicious with Walker at 7)

And hope they stay in that hole

Souths supporter talking about chooks and the cracks ?!  That will do me. Yes, we were terrible and Penrith were deserved winners who should have won by more. But I'm not sure we can take your comments with anything more than a grain of salt after South's trash effort last wk. Worry about your team

Roosters just had no intensity from the get go – how on Earth did they think they could beat Penrith with that approach. Robinson should have had them bouncing off walls if they had any hope to win.

Should be a beauty. Any one brave enough or dumb enough to pick against the Panthers?
Amesy
Roar Rookie
Or perhaps, the team they played last week is in a huge hole?

Long way to go, injuries to teams will definitely have an impact but the chooks, like last year, don’t look to have the forwards to go deep and while when they are on, can attack from anywhere, defensively out wide they look suspect. Time will tell. Agree though, even at the roar, the hype is next level.

The umbrella type defence employed by Qld , which pressured Cleary and consistently turned Yeo back inside has been successful.
