Benji Marshall was just as classy in his retirement press conference as he was on the field for the past 19 years. The 36-year-old officially saying goodbye to his NRL career. Wayne Bennett also had some wonderful words to say as his coach at several teams.

What a champion, gentleman, ambassador, and leader. I was upset with the way Wests treated Farah, but for me, with Benji, that was the last straw. After 60 years, a Wests supporter, now I just follow football.

What a great career! Always enjoyed watching his exciting style of play. He always kept oppositions guessing. Surely, he's a walk-up start for a skills and/or attack coach position.

I used to want 2 rusty brown staffys to name Siro & Blocker. I can name any breed Benji. And a second dog Marshall. It'd be funny calling Benji; Marshall; come" in a dog park

Benji aged like a fine bottle of wine. I actually enjoyed watching him overall in the last few seasons more than I recall enjoying watching him be that young brash kid with the big diamond earring and the ball on a string. He has matured into a level headed and astute observer of the game. It would be wonderful that if his heart is in it that he continues to be involved in analysis of the game as well as being an NRL mentor.

Farewell Benji and thanks for the memories. That time at Shark Park when you stepped past about 48 Sharks and did the no-look pass to Daniel Fitzhenry for the try was my favourite.
