True. But on the other hand, you have to take into account that if the ambulance waiting doctors get their way, the corresponding reduction in quality of life that Gus will suffer by not being able to watch you g men smash their heads into each other on weekends.
Swings and roundabouts, I suppose.
Have Gould and Cheika ever been seen in the same room together? Would explain their reasoning being the same, bad for the game! Cheika says he doesn't know the rules anymore, and Gould blaming them for ruining the game. It really needs to be quite simple, just so these 2 ignorant arrogants understand, if you hit above the shoulders you will be penalized, FULLSTOP. Afl have it, soccer even has it's own ruling on it.
Or the incident that lead to the law suit, some bloke has to drastically hurt but it's not him or his family so it's fine. Wonder if he has a different view if a player with a brain injury could sue him?
I've always wondered what will happen if a player outright refuses to leave the field after a head knock. It will happen one day. Are the trainers and officials going to have gang up and frogmarch the player off?
Gus now a doctor. Sometimes these commentators should be kept well clear of the game. They are an embarrassment at times. And their naive suggestions have a negative effect on promoting the game.

Whilst I agree with everyone else on here, Folkes died of a heart attack ( rumour has it doing some fairly intense VO2 type training ). CTE was found in his brain later. It certainly didn’t kill him.
But yep Gus is a moron.
He's criticising doctors??? For doing intense research on the exact cause and effect of brain injury? For daring to face up to reality and deal with it? I find that staggering. The doctor's aren't causing the damage to the likes of Steve Folks and many dozens of others. You can't just wish reality away. Listening to doctors won't destroy the game. But ignoring them and listening to the above advice would mean it's just a matter of time. A very short time.
No. Gould will kill the game with his incessant, nonsensical whinging.
I find it hilarious...making the game safer, while still getting paid the same is an absolute win-win in my book!
Sorry should have explained myself a bit better. Gould is correct lawyers will kill the game - by suing it out of existence if they don't take some action to mitigate the risk of head injury.
If anything i would have said the NRL protocols are too weak....Especially if we are to consider how Hodgson was not at least taken off for assessment on Friday night
But not before they could enjoy the community bonding experience of the Pokie machines (Gus being a vocal memeber of the pro pokie lobby because he's such a top bloke)

Fair call, so it would have only reduced his quality of life which Gus probably sees as more than reasonable!

How is this guy still employed? Surely channel 9 can see why the ratings are dropping with dribble like this?

Shouldn't that be the title of the article "Gus perfectly happy for players to die as long as they doesn't take old fashion rugby league with them?"
