NSW Coach Brad Fittler called it a lack of respect but the man who has been criticised and defended in equal measure has since had his say on one of the big Origin talking points.
It’s only worse if Arrow knows/thinks he’s injured. Clearly in the heat of the moment he doesn’t realise straight away.
I’m not defending the action in general. I’m saying we can’t pick and choose which one we get up in arms about. The intent is basically the same each time – get in your opponent’s face and let him know he stuffed up. The Tesdesco incident is a consequence of a pattern of behaviour that has gone unchecked, not a case of just one player doing something bad.
It wasn't about the result, it was about a Queensland player slamming an already concussed player's head into the ground. Arrow should receive a lengthy suspension.
The ref shouldn't be letting any of the other nonsense go either. Roughing up anyone who is lying on the ground after dropping the ball should be an instant penalty whether they are knocked out or not. Take it a step further and start rag dolling someone who is knocked out , then see you later son. Just because Chris Close was allowed to to do it forty years ago , it doesn't mean it was ever OK.
I think you are wrong. If he was intentionally trying to hurt him, he wouldn’t have instantly showed such concern. It’s all a bit of the byplay in league. Hard to eliminate, but must be.
Spare me. There would have been at least 20 times in the game where someone roughed up another player on the ground and I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone about them. JAC going in with forearms, Friend launching himself at prone players, someone trying to wind DCE's head off his neck. Of course someone is going to end up roughing up a an knocked out player, it's just stats.
If the spectators condone and the ref lets the game becoming a freeform wwf then don't complain about one single incident, as every con says, society is to blame.
One week ago the Blues were chanting "bring back the biff" it's great to see the aggression. This week, "Qld play too rough". Boo hoo. It was a great game of football, someone had to lose. It was you!
Agree with your sentiments entirely. Seeing a couple of witless league players tossing some coloured water over Wayne Bennett only further demonstrates what is put down as an excuse for high-spirited Australian larrikinism, a culture embedded in the warrior class. League and Ned Kelly need to lift their game.
Any comment on the game itself? For someone who only shows up on league threads to throw stones, you tend to watch quite a lot. If you can convince just a small number of league supporters to watch just one dull minute of union, the players wouldn’t have to work for $5p/h plus tips.

Your comments are typical of someone who seeks to always deflect blame and responsibility while then preaching a "hold all to the same standards" nonsense.
I saw the game and I've looked at the video accompanying this thread. And those who followed the blog on Wednesday will know that I supported Queensland. My immediate thought on game night was that Arrow's action was totally uncalled for. I thought that if Arrow was trying to stop Tedesco getting up and continuing, or trying to slow down the play, he wouldn't have lifted Tedesco up. He would have flopped on him. Since then, after watching replays, my view is that Arrow did what he did without thinking about what he was trying to do. He just did it. Having said that, I think that these are professional players who need to apply themselves with better discipline than park footballers. Arrow didn't or couldn't apply that higher standard and handled Tedesco in an unacceptable way. Arrow's only saving grace is that he did attract attention to the fact that Tedesco wasn't moving. However, I certainly don't want to see anything like this again, and nor should the NRL.
It's unsavoury but quite often a player who makes a mistake - drop ball etc get's a little reminder from the other team.
Usually it's an intent to humiliate not hurt.

His real fine is that he's now joined other grubs like Gallen and McGuire. He can't undo that.
