'What's he meant to do?' Was Nat Butcher hard done by to be pinged for an obstruction?

it was a poor decision by any standards and not the first time it has happened. The man playing the ball is not an obstruction runner, his position is static and he just cannot vanish. If that had occured in a mid field play the ball it would not have been called as such and neither should it because it is 2 metres out from the goal line. The sooner that inscidious publication "Interpretations for the NRL" is burried in the dustbin of history the better off the game will be. Referee to the rules of Rugby League because that is actually what the game is called.

That’s not a stat. Takes a special type of persecution complex to actually believe this tripe.

Like the Jamie Divin Lyon penalty try? I'll dig it up from The Chookpen.

Correct decision. Collins runs behind his player and a defender was impeded. Nat Butcher did nothing wrong but Collins did.

I can see a situation where there is a legitimate obstruction, and that is where the guy with the ball deliberately runs very close to the ruck to use the guy who played the ball as a block on the defence, or if the ball player moves to get in the way of the defence. But I don't think that was the case here.

Which stats prove that the Chooks have been dudded for two decades? Have a look at a replay of the 2013 GF. It wasn't only the diabolical forward pass call either.

Guilty of the “not disappearing into thin air the millisecond he played the ball” rule. I don’t know that one but it’s the only possible explanation

Not as bad as Easts mate. The stats prove that.

An absolute joke of a decision. Easts have had to put up with these sort of nonsense for 2 decades.
