Plays dirty is a big call. That implies he is always punching, kicking, late tackling, head butting. That’s not true. The reality is he was targeted by England, the officials didn’t support him, and he was seen as attacking someone’s legs. By the same measure Tate McDermott is a dirty player. Swinging arm, attacking players ankles with tackling style.

That is true! If Australia aren't competitive against NZ, who else will play you? The pacific? Japan? I think not. NZ is in danger of killing the golden goose, through their own success. Australia has some of the best athletic talent anywhere in the world! Yet it's too diluted. Not much Aussie-rules played in NZ, and Australia will win in rugby league, soccer and basketball far more often than not. Cricket, too. Netball is closer to parity, but not a direct competitor with rugby, methinks..

I’ve made multiple posts in here praising the Brumbies for how they played, so of course that is a factor. They were excellent and deserved the win. The Canes were also off their game, both can be true. They had a lot of unforced errors, but were chasing the game due to Brumbies pressure to be fair.

Of course, and understandable! No kiwi ever put a dog hit on an Aussie though, right? Not defending it, just saying it can happen. People make mistakes. And it’s always easier to judge in the stands – and in hindsight off the replay – than in real time on the field, isn’t it? If that’s the case, why play? He did the wrong thing. He was penalised. Move on… thankfully the players themselves do.

You don't allow for the fact that the Brumbies playing well can put pressure on Hurricanes at all? If the Hurricanes played poorly isn't it possible that the Brumbies prevented them from playing well? Just possible? Yes it was their worst game, but I don't believe that a top team loses to a top 4 team just by accident.

It was a good contest. The comp is better with Aussie teams winning some games, so I’m glad to see it in that sense. Reckon you’ve got a chance this year if you can play like this the rest of the year (and not like last week).

Hurricanes line out not great, but dominant scrum. I thought the brumbies defensive speed and aggression forced the errors, and they really matched the physicality generally. As a brumbies fan, that was a very good game, and a bit more satisfying than most. Game could easily have gone the other way today. Canes and Blues are still the teams to beat. Hopefully a more competitive finals run this year!

I was being funny. I know you guys don’t love him. But he should be in the wallabies - he’s got more mongrel than most and we’ve got too many softies in the squad. Him and Swinton should both be given real guidance to direct the Mongrel better.

Good effort from the brumbies. They turned up and won the contest for three quarters of that game. Scrum was a worry. But an all around performance there. Well done.
