I haven’t seen this game yet, but from all reports there is no real reason for either team to be playing with wingers, the balls simply not getting there…

So my question is, do we lend one of the teams Hooper to play on the wing? A fast loose forward to increase pressure at the breakdown? Do the lions go with a light weight back row and play with width? Or do they double down and select the biggest bodies they can to try and overpower the Boks? Any time the Boks are dominated physically they struggle… do the lions have the cattle?

I thought after watching the Lions Japan test the Boks would destroy them, after 30 minutes of test one the Boks looked done, but they were leading at that stage and dominating. That game time obviously helped, the Lions need to win for future Lions tours, but I fear the Boks are going to go up another level.

Did South Africa lose despite playing better?

“A ruck had clearly formed before he reached over and grabbed the ball, I can’t see how the ball could be said to have been out of the ruck and he was supporting his weight by kneeling on a South Africa player – this would usually be a penalty and, given the situation of the game, it would have have led to a warning, or even a yellow card.” A ruck is defined as 2 players on their feet over the ball. No one was on their feet over the ball so no ruck, but he was not supporting his body weight. A simple understanding of physics explains this, no one can bend the laws of physics, so he gets his centre of gravity passed his feet, he falls over and needs to support his weight by leaning on the players.

The bloke needs someone special running water for him? What does hodge need then?

Quade Cooper added to Wallabies squad as 'mentor' but available to play in Bledisloe Cup

If he can beat Banks and Wright that makes him the fastest in the squad. So every player you didn’t mention he is also faster than.

You mean the bloke that won 2 tests against France isn’t a good prospect? Australia has selected for too long players with basic skill deficiencies. Tate is a great player but as a club coach I’d have him do extras on it every session. Same with HP I’m yet to see him throw a good pass, the only pass I recall him throwing ended in aisle 5.

So saying we need better decision makers i don’t believe is right. I think the guys out there make great decisions based on their skill level. The problem is their options are limited. Quade made bad decisions because of his skill level.

To be honest JOC in my opinion does less with the ball in hand to make time and space. He seems to just catch and pass, sometimes literally standing deep. The Wallabies and Australian rugby in general need to devise a way to beat the rush defense, the out the back plays are not working.

Even as a leader? Do you want a team yelling at the ref? Or a team playing the game and talking to the ref in a respectful way to try and influence proceedings?

Winners and losers from the Wallabies-France Test series

It’s the Swinton debate from last year. The wallabies react in a different way we lose by plenty. I’d suggest the points should go to the officials and IRB for the laws they put in place and the coaching staff and on field leaders for how they reacted.

Lack of depth in support. Too many players wanting the pass, neglecting to remember they can all run 5m in under a second and be better placed to support the ball player for all outcomes.

I’m not the biggest Hooper fan, but man, he is the captain, he was one of the best players of the series. I rate Pocock as a better “traditional” 7, but Hooper did his role rather well. And you want to drop the best young player in the land?

I can’t say I have seen HP use footwork to beat a defender. I’ll believe you that he does, but the only footwork I’ve seen is a stutter step to load up into contact.

I said it was a bad look for the Australian captain. You asked for the evidence, I found it, you found a reason and way to defend him by deflecting and making it my problem. It is a bad look for the Australian captain to be doing it. Just like it’s a bad look for the French to fake injury. Do you really think he should be doing it?

Did the game plan change which allowed them the opportunity to prove a point? Or did they play with the same structures? I’d guess the game plan changed with McDermott starting, creating more space for runners because of his running game. So is it an equal assessment?

Where would the Wallabies be without Michael Hooper?

48:47 of game 3 until 48:51. Didn’t even notice the ref behind him awarding the Wallabies advantage. Didn’t even know the game was going on behind him. All about the AR.

As the defender you slow down, pull the player down in front of you, show a clear release and take the ball or get a penalty.

I think you will find the officials decided it was a red card. Their country of origin has nothing to do with it. And it was a red card. He did hit him in the neck / head. The player was always going to brace for contact. MK didn’t set low enough for that tackle. If it gets thrown out now, so be it, but it was the right decision on the field.

Interesting seeing a Queensland fan complain about the refs in super rugby! The only club to have a former player officiate them in 3 key games. All won by the reds in the final plays with huge penalty advantage… but hey… when you feel it’s your team being hard done by it’s the refs fault…

I’ll bite. Everyone is having a go at the French for acting, it’s a horrible look for the Australian captain to be screaming at the AR to get a decision. Right on the sideline, camera right there. No excuses.

I’d like to see Valetini and Naisarani together. Swinton was all action no impact. He charges around and is noticeable but seems to be ineffective when its his turn to do something.

Winners and losers from the Wallabies-France Test series

Every single player braces for contact. He was always going to brace for contact and lower his body height. That was always going to be a chest and above tackle. That’s exactly what they are trying to get out of the game, they are trying to make people aim to tackle from the waist down. That’s what the mandate and cards are about. Aim to tackle lower and you will have no issues.

'We owe it to the sport': How and why RA will fight to have Koroibete cleared at judiciary

I hope you noticed him turn his whole body to the AR and plead for a penalty. He was the only player in place if the French managed to clear the ball, but his focus was on yelling at someone and not the game. In that instance all the talk of improvement as a captain went out the window, he’s the leader, do we want all the players doing the same? And it’s a crap look for the game, wallabies, and Hooper.

'That wasn't about rugby, it was about heart': Brave 14-man Wallabies' stirring win

Found you again… did the game plan change? Or did only the players change? I’d have to think after the same game plan with the same deficiencies for 2 tests the game plan changed as well, especially when MK is red carded so early on.

So my question is was the team better or the game plan?

I’d say him as well, but he’s obviously not in the frame at the moment.
