The Reds scrum wasn’t as good as advertised, but neither was the Brumbies. Honours even there, methinks. Remember also that the Brumbies are down Alaalatoa and Schoup, and lost Lonergan in the first half to a shocking McD Hip Drop ???? Nasty tackle, nasty injury for Lonergan – season over there – and I hate to see that for any team. Both Reds had their periods of scrum dominance, like the one where the Brumbies had three resets just outside the 22 when they had dominance – the ball was in, and the Brumbies had taken two steps forward! Play on! Three times it happened – if the Brumbies went early, free kick Reds – if they didn’t, why reset? It happened for both teams.

Then why was Kerevi picked? Jones chose the wrong players in the wrong positions, in the wrong games! Why no Ikitau or Wight? How on Earth did neither Lonergan make the cut? The Brumbies are consistently Australia’s best for a reason. Why does Eddie and the ARU punish success? Yes, the Brumbies have some financial issues, yet they have more money, bigger crowds and more success than Sydney… in a “state” of 400,000!

NSW is the largest state in Australia with all of the advantages and resources that entails, and still can’t make a single state franchise respectable or successful! This Wallabies side is weaker than the Brumbies team that beat the Highlanders in the SR Quarter Final. Fact. The Brumbies brand still have an aura that can attract international interest and signings – more so than any other Aussie SR team anyway – and RA know it! That is why they are trying to steal it ????

'F--king works so hard, bro': Wallaby star's message to angry fans after World Cup calamity

Berry reffed appallingly for both teams. If he didn’t see a grounding it would be silly to give a try on the field. Ardie and the Canes coach can cry foul all they want, but it’s in the books. Yet what about Devan Flanders’ 59th minute try? Great run, but no try. A flanker cannot kick the ball forward out of a scrum whilst still bound. They can’t kick it out in any direction, they can only guide it with their feat through the two channels either side of the Number 8. The Number 8 can then unbind and pick it up, or stay bound and feed it to the Scrum-half. The ball cannot be kicked out in any other direction, and cannot pass through the tunnel without being touched. I know there was a scrum penalty, but you cannot play advantage off an infringement! No try, ball should come back to the scrum mark for a Canes penalty.

Actually, you’re right, and I was being kind to Savea there. The defensive player must touch the ball first, yet given the Ref ruled “held up” Reimer MUST have touched it first – by definition – so it’s still a “touch down” under Law 22.5 (a). Same result, really.

Reimer had his hands all over that ball! Even if Ardie “scored”, Reimer “touched down”. Both perfectly legitimate. If two players are in “possession”,or even “contesting” a ball being touched down, a try has NOT been scored. There is no advantage to an attacker or defender, but if you did not clearly score, you did not score. I agree, the ball was not held up… Reimer “scored” a defensive “touch down”. Same end result, really.

You don’t seem to know ruck laws, so there is no point continuing the discussion. Nic White had every right to enter that ruck as Hardwicke was trying to claim the ball. Kellaway was not getting up! Again, how tall do you imagine White is? If he did knee him in the head, it was accidental: remember the TMO did take a look at it when Kellaway was down. Hardwicke caused the problem and, besides, Kellaway remains in an illegal position until he is back on his feet AND behind the hind feet. If players off their feet have “right of way” how can the opposition ever turnover the ball?

The knee is very low to the ground, especially for a man of White’s stature. He didn’t “lead” with anything. I don’t need you to agree, but on your feet is never reckless in my book. Fact is you couldn’t enter a ruck time without hitting a Rebels player off their feet and most – if not all – concussions were friendly fire. To me it appeared a deliberate tactic to target the Brumbies legs, which I think is dangerous. The Brumbies didn’t use the same tactic, and didn’t suffer the same injuries. Playing on your feet is in the Laws… It is the First Principle of Rugby.

“Recklessly charged”? Turn it up! White entered a ruck on his feet, Kellaway was on the ground already and had not rolled away. The game is to be played by players on their feet, so how is that reckless? I think the HIAs speak for themselves – the Brumbies escaped the game unscathed.

I didn’t like the Rebels reckless aggression in this one. Aggression is fine, but it has to be controlled. Otherwise it’s just dangerous. Too many Rebels diving at opponents legs at ruck time, and that’s what caused the persistent HIAs. There were no high shots or foul play from the Brumbies… the Rebels accidentally kneed and kicked their own players in the head! I’ve been around rugby all my life, but I have never seen that before. The tactic may have worked with accuracy, but it was a mess. Gardiner lost control of the game in the end, but for my team I’m glad no Brumbies players – except possibly Frost – were injured. Rugby is potentially dangerous enough isn’t it?

What luck? The ‘Tahs conceded 16 penalties and 3 yellows – when do persistent and wilful yellows earn a red or even a penalty try? – and the Brumbies just 6 penalties and 0 cards. The Brumbies remain far and away the least penalised team in all of SR, and the only team yet to concede a single card through 6 rounds. Play clean, play fair and, if you’re good enough, reap the rewards!!!

How long will the ‘Tahs be “coming on” for. The season is half over!

Brumbies too good, yet again. 11 straight, isn’t it? And to think the Waratahs had their only available Wallabies – Hooper and Gordon – in the starting team! Makes it all the sweeter. The real shame is that, had the Brumbies had known that the WC resting policy didn’t apply since only NSW and QLD wouldn’t comply with it then, who knows? The Brumbies 3rd String didn’t disgrace themselves in Christchurch and, without resting Wallabies in good faith, may have gone close or even jagged a W. At the very least, a losing BP. Only one Aussie team will ever make the finals in fair, open Trans-Tasman competition. And, sorry Fanboys, but it certainly isn’t NSW. Or QLD.

Great win from the Brumbies, and very happy to see them work so hard over the full 80 minutes in that baking sun! The Blues just… didn’t. No discipline, penalties galore, no accuracy, and a perfect example of what happens to a team that can only score on counter-attacking chances that just doesn’t get enough chances. Learn more facets of rugby Blues, then come back and talk. Though, to be fair, the Blues should have won that game but Good ‘ol Kiwi Cockiness got in the way. Barrett turned down two (or more) kickable penalties for no reward… he must be kicking himself hard now.

'A lot of courage': Brumbies win ugly over Blues to deliver Super Rugby statement against Kiwis

Ill informed? The tribunal cleared Banks of a Red! They cited three – THREE – mitigating factors when Gardiner found none. Well, he actually did find mitigation but, stupidly and inexplicably, allowed a touchie to talk him out of it. Just asking, but where do you get your “information”?

Banks got his Red Card rescinded by the SANZAAR tribunal! It should NOT have been given, simple as that. They gave him a Warning (i.e. a Yellow, which is precisely what I suggested). I am a Brumbies Fan, sure, but I feel well vindicated! Regardless of which team we support, we all play under the same Laws. And, having spent my life around this great game, can we just accept that some know Rugby Laws better than others?

I think a Red was harsh; Banks was sprinting to tackle a attacker out wide and, in Gardiner’s own (initial) words, Pulu did change his line. Gardiner seemed to find mitigation but appeared to let the TMO talk him out of it. If Pulu keeps running for the corner, the tackle is lower. I understand and agree it’s the players responsibility, but corner tackles are always at speed and rarely controlled. They are desperation tackles. I think a yellow would have been better, on balance. Yet what’s done is done – Banks did get it wrong – and I’m glad it didn’t decide the game.
