Match preview:

The All Blacks will hope Eden Park remains their fortress when they welcome the Wallabies in the second and deciding Bledisloe Cup match this weekend. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of what promises to be a thrilling match starting from 5:35pm AEST on Saturday.

The Rugby Championship trophy might already be in the hands of the Springboks but for many Kiwis and Australians, the Bledisloe is not just more important than the Championship, but perhaps even more important than the World Cup. This match really matters.

Michael Cheika and his selection panel team have resisted the urge to tinker and have made just one change to their starting line up, and that’s because of injury.

Adam Coleman will start and replaces Rory Arnold while the rest of the starters remain the same including Nic White who has made a very strong case over the past three games for him being the starting scrum-half for the World Cup.

On the bench the Wallabies have some incredible experience with over 470 caps – pretty impressive considering one of the subs is Liam Wright who is yet to play a game of the Australians.

Whether this large number of caps brings wisdom and experience or over the hill players who are off the pace remains to be seen but Cheika will be hoping for another strong performance from Will Genia who came off the bench last week and helped the team close out their memorable win.

For the All Blacks there are some changes and with those changes come rumours of mild panic and potential careers ending.

Owen Franks, Ben Smith, Rieko Ioane have all been left out of the matchday squad and Steve Hansen has said that he needs to see them playing better. Ioane is still young but Franks and Smith are both a bit longer in the tooth.

Nepo Laulala, George Bridge and Sevu Reece come in to replace these three and Sonny Bill Williams replaces injured Jack Goodhue and Patrick Tuipulotu is in for Scott Barrett who is unavailable for selection thanks to his red card last week.

Obviously it’s an exaggeration to say the All Blacks are panicking but it is fair to say that all is not normal. In the Rugby Championship they only picked up one win and they have struggled to find rhythm in any of their games.

It is possible that they could lose their number one world ranking this week and actually end up as low as sixth position!

Several results would have to play out to make that happen – but when was the last time the All Blacks’ top spot was genuinely under threat?

Prediction
The performance of last week will give the Wallabies a lot of confidence and they will try and forget that the last time a Wallabies side won at Eden Park, Richie McCaw was making his debut.

This is a genuine chance for the Wallabies but they will have to have the perfect game. On the flip side the All Blacks are going to be out for revenge and it’s hard to see them not getting it.

All Blacks by 7.

I don't think any 5/8th looks that flash if his forwards are being belted off the park. The other point is B.Foley has had to play "Cheika-ball" of sweeping backline plays to get wide ball, at the cost that players stand back in the next suburb. I rate B.Foley a better and faster runner with the ball than CLL and great at backing up and an accurate place kicker if distance less than 40m. C.Lealiifano is miles better in defence and is a pretty decent place kicker. Neither have particularly long field kicks but CLL is more accurate and longer kicking out of the 22m. I would always start CLL as I just don't believe you can play internationals with a poor tackler in the line. Hiding the player behind the line makes it worse as you have (a) musical chairs and blokes out of their normal positions rushing all over the place and (b) it weakens the back three defence as good kickers such as J.Sexton and O.Farrell will aim all day at the smaller 5/8th to win ball back or get penalties. B.Foley or M.Toomua on the bench.

Yea, I don't mean to take anything away from them. I personally think we should have a different ranking system is all. I detailed this in another thread so wont bore anyone else with it. I think the easiest solution is duel tables for SH and NH seasons. Does this mean Wales are now RWC favorites?

To be fair to Wales they have won 14 of their last 15 games.

Awesome Blacks, bring on the world cup. When will the Wallabies learn that one swallow does not a summer make?

True but I reckon they are starting to click. They didn't actually play as badly as the scoreboard suggests. And the ABs were at their ruthless best. I wouldn't be panicking if I was an Aussie

I thought the backs were impacted by some poor forward efforts too

The WBs look like they have a good base now. Just need more consistent performance from the guys. It will come.

Just wait till you see Cheika’s reaction when he finds out he has lost the last ounce of Flyman’s respect. Sheesh...

The first incident with Dane Coles was a little push and shove..get over it. The second was uncalled for but wasn't even that bad. Since when has rugby turned into a game for wimps. The scrum, face it the wallabies should feel embarrassed after being beaten by a 7 man unit.

And they won, so now are ranked #1. Unfortunately Australia are too far below us for our win to count for much. Thanks Australia! Seriously though, like I said last week. The rankings are a strange beast and maybe not as reflective of the relative strength of teams, especially between the SH and NH teams who dont play often enough.
