How was it worse than McReights? The Fijian player is on way down from being tackled. Though if it is worse he will get cited anyway so no probs.

The inconsistency in the referees and TMO throughout the competition is really bad. To compound the matter, the judiciaries are even worse with the big suck-up to top nation clubs in both NH and SH. If an offence has 6 weeks, then give the bloke 6 weeks and forget the BS lowering of the penalty with feeling remorse, bible readings and confession. The only concerns towards any concessions I think are valid are was the red card offence as deliberate thuggery or where the player simply got it wrong?

If McReight is 3 weeks, Kirifi is that and more. Not even a red card.

How is Du’Plessis Kirifi’s hit not a red card? Far worse than the Fraser McReight hit last week. The inconsistency is killing the game.

Given it was a swinging arm, arguably closer to McDermott's. But either way it looked a pretty clear red.

Unbeaten the whole season under Earle Kirton. That win over Auckland...

I was a little surprised Kirifi’s YC stayed a YC. It might get looked at again on Monday. (If it doesn’t get RC’ed on Monday, can someone explain how it is different to McReight’s.)
Guess

Yeah they should get Whitaker

It's a surprise, isn't it? Takes me back to watching the squad that John Gallagher played in. That was stonkingly good team. NPC 1986.

Full time and the Canes go for the bonus point kicking for the line. Drua win the LO but penalised. The Canes 2nd penalty LO-maul gets them a converted try to the reserve LHP off a dominant maul and the bonus point. Full time Canes 38 -Drua 15. TV stats show Drua had 80% possession in the 2nd half and about 90% territory while Canes copped 3 cards yet still won the match handsomely. The 10 minutes after Du’Plessis Kirifi’s card won this game for the Canes. On their line for most of the time and they did not concede a try. The great Hurricanes’ defence snuffed out the Drua momentum and you should see the Drua shoulders drop when they went for the penalty kick for 3 points rather than another LO-maul. Canes are a really good team and surely must be favourites for the SRP24 chocolates.

No. Nor am I sucking in the big ones.

Certainly their best pack, which is the most important thing.

Well played Hurricanes. A serious professional team knows what to do no matter what.

Astonishing. 3 yellow cards, 14 playing 15 in the 80th minute, and the Hurricanes score a try for a bonus-point win!

Canes look like the real deal this year. Strong all over the park

Amazing effort by the Canes, not a weak link out there. Unfortunately, Drua reverted to type under pressure. Quick taps and basketball, too much individual stuff. Were playing 13 men for nearly a quarter of the game.

No surprise. The NZ teams hardly take the foot off the gas against lesser opponents.

Great defensive effort in the second half.
