Champion takes on champion at Suncorp Stadium when the Super Rugby AU premiers, the Queensland Reds, take on the powerhouse of New Zealand, the Crusaders. Keep an eye on this rugby blockbuster right here on The Roar with live scores from 7:45pm (AEST).

The Reds were soundly beaten by the Highlanders in their first Trans-Tasman match, losing 40-19. However, Brad Thorn chose to start a number of first-choice players, most notably Taniela Tupou, on the bench following their bruising Super Rugby AU final win just six days earlier. It’s expected they will put up a much greater fight this time around.

However, the Crusaders remain just as formidable a force as ever. Super Rugby Aotearoa premiers for the second year running, the men from Christchurch are a lean, mean rugby machine. They were pushed all the way by the Brumbies at home, though, only a late penalty miss seeing them hold on for a 31-29 win.

They will also have to find a way to cover the loss of talismanic captain Scott Barrett through illness.

I look upon it as the Reds rolling the shaved dice. They want the 5% of B.Hegarty sparking something good (look at his great pass to F.McReight in the Highlanders game) and are willing to cop the 95% of him losing ball in contact or getting monstered in the ruck and having the pill stolen or him kicking to no-where land and wondering why the crowd are applauding the Kiwi try off the back of the ensuing broken play return. Something has got into coach B.Thorn's head that F.Daugunu on the wing is worse than moving J.Campbell to the wing to accommodate B.Hegarty at fb. I just don't get it!

I've bit¢hed about aimless kicking and lack of organised chasers and intent with WB and SR franchises for years. Sadly the coaches and players know better. Just look at recent results. :crying:

And for the record I do not just believe but know what I'm looking at with SA domestic rugby.. Our Currie Cup teams are being used as a vehicle for development.. Standards definetely not great.. European Club Rugby no place to train a youngster.. I have a very bad feeling about it all.. Again hopefully I'm wrong and I'll be happy to be so... But I don't think I am.

so we are off to Europe for hopefully easier pickings Should have moved 10-20 years ago if you looked for easy beats. Nowadays the best NH teams look far stronger than any Saffa team.

Fair call. Yeah the NZ visit could be a very harsh reality check no doubt.

@heyboy No Force were not competitive against Cheifs imo. Force were down 20-7 with 5 minutes to play and only got more points due to a red card given to Chiefs. They then got a try after 80 mins on clock. Force were at home, never in front at any point in game and never looked like being. Chiefs were obviously on hangover from the previous week and rested many of their top players. To be competitive you've got to look like you could win. Force were lucky just to make the final score look respectable is all. Let's see how Force go when they play in NZ. They at least have good defence :)

" We’d been out at a Eurovision party and the TV was on that all night." This is the WORST thing I've ever read on the Roar. This has gone straight to No1 on The List. (Head in Hands) :unhappy:

Glenn I admire your ambition but I think you might be getting a bit old to take up athletics.

But it could well be fact. One never knows. Management does not seem to be righting a sinking ship – one that is slowly sinking, resurfaces and sinks again. Possibly not sinking more like a bobbing up and down in a cork on a fishing line.

Not competitive going down to the Chiefs by a point? The Reds, Rebels and Waratahs playing on their home turf were smashed too, Waratahs less so but conceded 64 points. Bit of credit where its due to the Force! They weren’t even competing against top tier teams until recently.

Even tacklers these days have to come through the gate. Been that way for a couple of years now.

RM could be flawless and win every match pretty much on his own, but the BB fan-bois would still 'think' their lad is better.

Don't know what your beef against TT is, but I feel you have to accept that the Brumbies scrum was terrible in the Oz final & move on Bobby.
