Loyal rugby follower. Wasn’t a particularly good player but just loved the comradeship of it all. Ref now in country Qld.

Apart from his try, the only metres he made yesterday was when he took a tap. He & Cale were sadly, well & truly dominanted.

Brumbies' Super campaign blows up AGAIN as Aussie rugby's hoodoo in NZ continues

Great, another free for all at the breakdown. Though the Brumbies are a bit better then the Reds with getting messy at the breakdown.

Act of mindless brawn and baffling subtlety that will decide the Brumbies' fate

Agree on Wright, that he needs to be there. But not so Cale @ 7, takes years to develop craft there. What the Wallabies might as well put up the white flag to oppositions that we aren’t going to contest their ball at breakdowns?

'His athleticism is through the roof': Brumbies' 'excitement machine' who looks destined for gold

At present the rival to Cale at #8 is your Bobby V. The Wallabies will need a ruck monkey at 6 to secure our own ruck ball, L Wright is the pick of the bunch at present. Let’s not forget a couple of years ago when we were hopeless at doing this?
McReight is a no brainer at #7. Here we have our link & wider channel runner, no need for Cale. Let him develop a bit more before throwing him in the furnace.

'His athleticism is through the roof': Brumbies' 'excitement machine' who looks destined for gold

Thanks Geoff, feel sorry for your Rebels. Foote had got a good roster together there. Also, the lack of a pathway now for Victorian players. Hopefully one day they’ll get it back.

“Samipeni Finau, playing with controlled aggression”. He still hasn’t changed, still a cat, when Lawson Creighton scored he flopped on him late with a leading elbow to the ribs, luckily no damage was done.

The Wrap: Rebels’ emotions mask 'anger and frustration' as Brumbies cop a six-day semifinal turnaround

I was sure it was Doleman reffing in that Reds/Chiefs first half. Players getting cleaned out well beyond the ruck, players securing ruck ball by diving off their feet, players not bound to the ruck reaching over to obstruct the half, pillar defenders blatantly offside so much so the ref has to call them off, but still no penalty even though it had already impacted the half in his decision making.
It wasn’t so much the Reds needing to address their shortcomings at half-time it was BOK who when he started to ref the breakdown properly, the Reds were allowed to play some rugby.

Doleman always has an off night. Can’t believe this guy is a Level 3 or whatever the grading is over the ditch.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light: Rebels fight to the death but Canes' class prevails

Why can’t they appoint Aussie refs for Kiwi home games, surely the home ground is enough advantage without giving them home countrymen refs as well?
I see you guys had Doleman, commiserations. Though the Reds had BOK who I thought was Doleman in that first half before he started to ref the ruck properly, it was only then the Reds could get into the game.

That’s right, Micko. All SR teams should have access to all players in the comp just like the NRL. For it to be successful SR needs to do this. But good luck in getting the NZRU to allow this to happen?

JOHN CONNOLLY: 'It's a disgrace that the Rebels were set up to fail from day one'

Poor old Harry Vella coping all the blame for the poor scrum. Pollard in particular as well as AAA need to own some of it too. And maybe a lock?
“The scrum was no longer an issue” in the second half, because there were bugger all?

Brumbies sweating on Wallaby's return to fix serious flaw for semifinal against Blues

His goal line defence is one weakness, for “a big man” he was a pussy-cat on his line. Was it the Blues game he let a couple of backs run over him to score?

Brumbies sweating on Wallaby's return to fix serious flaw for semifinal against Blues

How’d picking a dominant Brumbies/Wallabies team go last time for Rennie & McKellar? Not learning from past mistakes I see.

Brumbies sweating on Wallaby's return to fix serious flaw for semifinal against Blues

“the dreaded hair-pull”. Rugby & the NRL need to tell anyone with long hair to either tie it up or chop it off above shoulder height. Half the time people are just grabbing for the jersey & collecting a bit of hair with it.

Great game in the conditions. NSW with all that ball should’ve won, time to find a different half/playmaker?

'That was insane': Brown sinks Blues in the wet with late field goal as trademark Maroons comeback forces series decider

Disappointed van Egmond & Polkinghorne made it, would’ve been a good time to get some younguns in there.

Matildas squad named for Paris 2024 Olympics but fitness concerns loom for star duo

Hopefully the ref coaches have had a word to him.

Just as long we don’t get Doleman for a finals game.

Super Rugby teams R15: Reds near full strength, Paddy Ryan answers Tah SOS, Force's Donno blow, Kels on the wing

Kuenzle reminds me of a faster Hodge & better goal kicker.

Matt To'omua's Wallabies team vs Wales: Weakness Lynagh must fix before Test debut, new role for Wright

It would be nice PK, but sure as duck’s eggs the Reds will get a ref, such as Doleman, where the ruck is a mess & their style of play is lost. Game over.

The Wrap: Is Australian rugby about to throw a whole heap of valuable coaching IP out the window?

Agree Geoff, that upgraded RC to Tuputupu was ridiculous. How can the TMO say there was no mitigation?
Comparing it to Brumby Tua’s lazy attempt of a tackle where he was totally upright in the tackle & heads clashed, his stayed a YC, somehow there was mitigation in that one?
There has to be some commonsense in these rulings. Tuputupu did everything right as you say, it was the tackled player actions that caused the head contact.

The Wrap: Is Australian rugby about to throw a whole heap of valuable coaching IP out the window?

I think Gardner must’ve been given a serve by the boss when he got off the plane from Fiji. He actually walked his talk this week. Giving YC’s out & not just for the bleeding obvious of tripping.

'Like the under 10s': Wright's Jonah Lomu moment sums up Brumbies' power, but cards are a wake up call

Yeah, Lonergan got away with doing it in the first half, would have been good to see consistency though.

'Like the under 10s': Wright's Jonah Lomu moment sums up Brumbies' power, but cards are a wake up call

Yeah, It’s just a pity they are bleeding so many players for next year. With the coach gone as well, they are starting from scratch again.

The Waratahs are where the Blues were a decade ago. Why RA can't make the same mistake NZR did back then

Gus was never giving a yellow card to the Drua in front of their home crowd. He had to get to the airport to catch a plane remember.
Four scrum penalties in a row, still nothing from Gardner, I think Tate realised it wasn’t going to happen. So take the tap, he did discuss it with others.

The Wrap: A slap, three trips and a telling slip of the tongue - plus the case for an eight team finals series

I agree BB, I commented on this in Doran’s post game write up of the Brumbies game yesterday.

Apparently when foul play is involved in a potential try, they exclude the Crusader player (infringer) being there altogether, how ridiculous? So in their fairyland world, Goddard would have caught the ball & brought it down in time to score under no pressure as there was no Crusader there.

The Wrap: A slap, three trips and a telling slip of the tongue - plus the case for an eight team finals series

Where is this written, that you can exclude the player all together? If it is right, then they need to change that. I can understand excluding the player if he did a dangerous a act but for something like that, they’re in fairy land.

Brumbies end 15-year drought against Crusaders as 80th minute penalty try seals remarkable finish

Tough going for the Reds, but they knew it was going to be like that. Disappointed with the Reds lineout, really missed Faessler. Scrum was ok to good, old home team ref, Gardner, still hasn’t changed, should’ve given the Drua at least one YC for all those repeated scrum infringements. Angus might be able to learn something off the new kids, see Way wasn’t afraid to give some cheese out to the Tahs scrum for far less infringements?
Great to see the Reds trying right to the end- pity about the bonus point they deserved it.
