Loyal rugby follower. Wasn’t a particularly good player but just loved the comradeship of it all. Ref now in country Qld.

Ref’s can or should be able put a player in their place pretty quickly if they set the standard from the word go.
I just can’t understand them letting White rabbit on when he’s not skipper. Apparently he’s been skipper the last few games according to Jezdexter, so he’s OK at the moment.

Coach's Corner: How can Aussie teams find their mojo in clashes with the Kiwis?

I didn’t realise he was skipper, so his talk up to a point is OK then.

Coach's Corner: How can Aussie teams find their mojo in clashes with the Kiwis?

Mz, I just don’t understand why refs put up with him yapping all the time. I know I couldn’t & he’d be sent to the naughty chair.

Bit tough on Tate on not getting picked in TOM. He’s cleaned up a lot of poor lineout supply, provided a lot of spark in attack in a side on the back foot, some great defence & great leadership.
Verses a guy that spends most of the game complaining to ref’s & touchies. He is not the captain so shouldn’t be allowed so much talk.

Yes they do. Caslick would do alright. Just her defence might be a problem against the guys.

COMPLETE SRP Round 15 teams: Blues rest stars, Hanigan starts as Tahs make five changes to pack, Wright back for Reds

Yep, he’ll go the way of Liam Gill. Now that the Tah media are talking up Gamble to be heir apparent to Hopper. FMR will stick around for a bit to try his luck but I don’t think Rennie likes him so much either.

“Latham was a brilliant fullback for the Wallabies when Burke retired, but he didn’t dominate in all aspects of fullback the same as Matthew Burke.” This was because Burke was a ball hog. Give me Latho any day.
Though Riggers, l do agree with you on Jock. You forgot to mention that he is quite elusive with a little space. Often when returning he beats 2 or 3 defenders with a mini break.

The Wallabies' fullback must be Jock Campbell

Yeah Hugh, so disappointing that the women 7’s aren’t getting the coverage they deserve.
I must admit I haven’t been watching too much of them of late, but did tune in to the Toulouse games, Wow! they are impressive as you say. Couldn’t get over the speed of Faith, she just burned Woodman & one of the Irish girls so easily.
Ferns might’ve won but gee they’re looking like grandma’s compared to our girls.
Keep up the good work Hugh in writing these articles. Much appreciated.

The Australian women’s sevens team deserves more recognition

Agree Joke, if we are to be competitive in women’s world XV’s, I too think we need to somehow involve players that have gone over to other codes. We will never get them back as soley rugby players so we should work around their season. Whether they are allowed by their primary employer is another thing?

The Wrap: Finals footy arrives two weeks early as Blues and Brumbies slug it out in Canberra

Thanks Geoff, as a neutral I really enjoyed the Blues/Brumby game. It had everything, the one eyed crowd, the “bad” guy in the ref, the “underdog” in the Blues against a “cynical” Brumby side that was prepared to infringe anytime the opposition got too close. It was a win for rugby.

Yes Ben, Justin Harrison was painful tonight. He’s suppose to be a professional commentator but when he comes out with rubbish like calling for Murphy to give out a YC after the Blues conceded just two pens in a row is a joke, when Murphy let the Brumbies get away with about 4 pens then a caution before starting to hand them out. Then with all his other mutterings, it was disgraceful.
Great game to watch as a neutral. Thought the Blues should involve Clarke a bit more somehow, maybe the hammy was a result of getting too little work in the cold?

REACTION: 'Reckon we'll get an apology' - Battered by the ref, bettered by Barrett, Brumbies blow Blues battle

I’m glad the Blues won & they deserved it. Brumbies had a high penalty count because they were under the pump & were lucky more players weren’t given YCs. They infringe far too easily when in their red zone & McKellar brought this result on himself. They’ve been doing it for awhile now, they cynically give away pens to slow the opposition down when they start to get dangerous, it’s a blight on their game.

Good on Frost for staying, he’s got a big future with the WB’s.

Rugby News: Brumby reneges on Japan deal after 'positive feedback' to Wallabies dream, Rennie delivers Banks verdict

Hi pm. I like your idea of bringing back BPA to go up against the Pomie scrum & your thinking of not putting Bell into the fire first up. We need hard experienced heads in that front row.
Tate & JOC should be our halves if Quade not available. Tate is playing the house down even in a losing Reds side. He has to be there from the start, he’s the future & the sooner he’s installed full-time the better.

Jumping the gun by a few weeks: A Wallabies 23 to face the Poms

This team of yours is very close to what I would like to see Cheikmate. Just maybe change BPA for Fainga’a & Frost for Holloway.

Jumping the gun by a few weeks: A Wallabies 23 to face the Poms

Well done Reds, they showed they can be dangerous. Hope JOC is ok.
What an inept performance by the officials. Cooper was reffing only one side, so much so the Reds didn’t get a breakdown penalty until the second half. Penalties were given for players being offside that had no impact on play, is this guy only a Level 1 ref or was he getting instructions from Brumby Ben (Keane) running the line when he should be concentrating on his core duty of watching the touch line being breached. Also, where was the TMO on this, as it lead to a try. Unbelievable.

REACTION: JOC limps off, Tate immense as Reds need to dig deep to end losing slump against Moana Pasifika

Yep agree Dr, Kerevi was penalised for it in the last RWC against Wales. You could see Tate having a big bruise on his neck from it.

REACTION: JOC limps off, Tate immense as Reds need to dig deep to end losing slump against Moana Pasifika

Agree Jacko, you could tell from Tate’s words post game that he appreciated having JOC back.

REACTION: 'We just haven't fronted' - The four minutes that exposed massive gulf between Reds and Blues

Hi Tony, liked your comment “were beaten All Black and Blue at Eden Park”. So true, not so much a disgrace as it seems, as the Blues will probably win the comp & are a damn good team. On top of this when was the last time any Aussie team won here? Eden Park is our graveyard.
In reality the Reds were never in with a chance with their injury toll & poor skills.

REACTION: 'We just haven't fronted' - The four minutes that exposed massive gulf between Reds and Blues

Reds aren’t out of it yet, I’d laugh if they come up against the Ponies in the finals & beat them.
Not sure if it is a culture thing. They’re a close knit team. It’s just been basic mistakes that have cost the Reds in games like dropping balls, bad lineout throws & poor kicking. Maybe Big Brad has to put more emphasis on skills than strength & fitness.

REACTION: 'We just haven't fronted' - The four minutes that exposed massive gulf between Reds and Blues

Well done to the Aussie women. Pity they had to wait so long between appearances. Good to see Lori Cramer back in the #15 jersey.

Emotions run high as Wallaroos celebrate Test return in style with win over Fiji

Wouldn’t say they got smashed, they got out smarted by the Chiefs scrum. Reds scrum couldn’t get a go on because the Chiefs wheeled it every time they had go forward. A different ref might’ve policed it differently.

ANALYSIS: How Australian rugby came back to life at Leichhardt Oval

KH, I don’t mind talented lightweight backs so much getting rag dolled by big forwards. But I certainly draw the line when forwards get it done to them eg. Hooper got held up by a Chiefs winger in Melbourne. It just shouldn’t happen.

Rugby News: Rennie on Hoops-McReight combo, ABs urged to sign 'best bench player ever,' Wilson's reality check for Tahs

Yes have to agree, can’t go back to having a small #6 or #8. Hooper is just going to have to learn to share his minutes on the field.

Rugby News: Rennie on Hoops-McReight combo, ABs urged to sign 'best bench player ever,' Wilson's reality check for Tahs

Yeah, it’s a shame he didn’t give halfback a go for a bit, he would’ve been great alright. It’s a wonder the AB’s talent scouts all those years ago didn’t point him in this direction especially with his size?
