The Wallabies and All Blacks will look to get their Northern Hemisphere tours off to a good start when they go head to head in the third and final Bledisloe Cup match in Yokohama, Japan. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 5:00pm (AEDT).

While the Bledisloe Cup might be safely secured back in NZRU trophy cabinet for the 16th year in a row, this game still matters for both sides. The trans-Tasman rivalry always matters and a win here is worth a lot to all concerned – players, coaches and fans.

With injuries and depth considerations at play, there are some interesting selection choices and plenty at stake for both players and coaches alike.

In the hunt for that win, Michael Cheika has had to look at new options. Israel Folau has moved to outside centre to replace Reece Hodge, who’s out with a broken ankle.

Perhaps more of a problem for the Wallabies is the loss of Adam Coleman with a goin injury. His aggression and power would be important to compete against the All Blacks pack and while his replacement, Rob Simmons, is a fair replacement in the lineout, he doesn’t bring the same impact in the loose.

Speaking of impact, Taniela Tupou has been moved back to the bench. One assumes Cheika is hoping that it’s a close game come the 50-minute mark and that Tupou can make the difference.

There are some great clashes to watch out for in this match as always. One of the most important is the battle of the scrumhalves – Will Genia and TJ Perenara. Both will want their forwards to give them quick, clean ball to help them unleash their players, but more than that both these generals will fight for control of the game. The Wallabies need to play smart rugby and Genia is key in this battle of wits.

In the centres, there’s plenty of talent for fans to enjoy with Kurtley Beale going up against Sonny Bill Williams. Neither has found top form in 2018 yet and so look to watch them try and stamp their authority on this match early on.

It will also be interesting to see how Damian McKenzie starts at fullback for the Kiwis. He’s great as an impact player as opponents tire but what can he do when everyone is fresh? It’ll be exciting to see.

Prediction
If you ask the bookies this is a done deal – All Blacks all the way. While there is definite talent in the Wallabies and their morale should be up after their comeback win against the Pumas in their last outing, it’s hard to see how the Kiwis lose this one.

All Blacks by ten points.

Yellow card my ? Really he was sucked in, they both should have got one if that was the case. That's what's wrong with this game, it's just turned soft with ridiculous referring. The ABs were simply better. Man for man they aree a phycically stronger and more skilful player. We have to realise that with 4 codes competing for a limited pool of top athletes that we can compete against a nation that has only one, no matter that it is smaller. It's called national focus. As to coaching, well at tis level tehese elite athletes should have a pretty good idea themaelves, but whatever it is that is being coached isn't working. But more so, what is going on in the filed is just poor play. Bad catch and pass, shabby tackling and no vision. We really need to sought out this back three issue. You win the game in the forwards. We seem incapable of the mongrel needed without breaching discipline.

If Pocock wasn’t slowing the AB ruck ball, how much worse would the shuffling defensive structure look?

Totally agree. I am never going to call someone who not only achieved more than me, but represented their country, useless.

It has nothing to do with why the All Blacks are the best in the world. The excellent structure of NZ rugby and that it is the only country in the world which holds Rugby Union as its primary sport does have something to do with it.

I didn’t say we couldn’t ask for the coach or the players to be more accountable mate. That’s constructive as it’s behavior focused. It is actually something they can change. But the personal attacks on players which generalise about their character like, useless, failure, choker etc are indicate that there is nothing that this group of players could possibly do better so they may as well stop trying. Whilst I’m in a pontificating mood watch this video and reflect on whether you think your feedback to the players, who do read it, is helpful. https://youtu.be/Yl9TVbAal5s

The yellow was deserved, even tho the refs didn't realise it, cos Latu started it with an earlier slap https://twitter.com/TheShadow549/status/1056088894813298688

That they do, but Terrances comment of them "pouncing on Australia's slow methodical style of rugby" doesn't line up with what you've said. That being said what you've said is correct

That's a good call, they are both very different but both close to the two best players on the pitch week in and week out.

Re Latu - I thought that was rough but I only saw it in isolation- the Blacks player ‘pushed’ him and was advancing towards him so he protected himself by striking - I though fair enough but of course the idiot in charge sent him off. The point? It’s just crap to watch and the neck-rollers can do whatever they like with impunity and one of our blokes stands up for himself and he’s yellow carded. I made a call for an overhaul of our coaches but the refereeing is beyond a joke

He doesn't appear to be a fan of rugby. Yes the Wallabies could be playing better, maybe some of them shouldn't be picked over others but overall they are all very good players in their own right following a game plan provided to them. They are not useless.

The Fjiian national side seem to do ok for a team that has little time playing or preparing together given that most of it's players from the European club comps. The Drua showed that having time together developing as a unit helps you with structure and consistency.

Well said marlin.. if you were on the outside looking in you would be begging ex players with the business acumen of John eales and brett robinson to be on the board so as to help us out of this!! Oh, that’s right they are, and they have done stuff all. They have actually made things worse. Why have they done for the code since they were put on the board?? Someone answer me?!!!

Sure, AB fans always use "we've" when talking about the Wallabies.

How was Pocock better? 1 run and 1 turnover. Hooper was making metres everywhere covering other peoples tackles amd everywhere chasing everything, every kick, every line break etc. Pooper are our best and play different roles in this team. Somehow in this part of the world turnovers, even one, get you close for the Wallabies MOTM.

Latu's transgression was at worst a penalty but he's a serial offender. You're playing for your country young man - a modicum of discipline would be greatly appreciated. The ongoing selection of Ned Hanigan and the selection of Jack Dempsey epitomises what's wrong with Australian Rugby and the Wallabies. Ned Hanigan has now been gifted 18 caps while he learns how to play rugby - so many more than so many better players. Learn your stripes in Super Rugby and NRC young man. No-one deserves such a free ride. Jack Dempsey has worked hard to return from serious injury but should never have been picked for this game or the Spring Tour. Thanks World Series Rugby for giving us a focus for this great game while RA keep fiddling while Rome burns. Things will get much worse before they get better. The RS Board should read up on the honorable out - Seppuku.
