Its good to be sarcastic. Timing of when to deliver it is essential though.

It's ok guys, it was because of the corona virus, and the rain, and we hadn't played in a couple of weeks that we were made to look like training cones against a team that was still in pre-season.

This is the question we all should be asking WHY? WHY when this same coach was coaching Brisbane Roar & Australia demanded we play like this, so many were saying, we need to play to our strengths? WHY are the A-League Clubs still playing Journeyman with some of the most horrible skills in preference to a more gifted Youngster, but prone to more mistakes? WHY are we not joining the ASIAN REVOLUTION, why do we not aspire to be as good as this standard. WHY ARE WE SO FAR BEHIND? In 2006 we were equal to them by 2010, Ange said we were falling behind, why were there no one listening?

Yes - which is why Yokohama under Ange is kind of irrelevant to any discussion of Ange's troubled end time as national coach.

The reason why Australia didn’t play like this was simple - quality of player and time to implement. Ange had neither when compared to His ability to do this in club-land.

I get you and I did watch half the PG game before a storm knocked out the signal. Whilst they got close, I am inclined to fall back to my main point that FC Tokyo isn’t the benchmark that we have to reach, it is Yokohama as champions although they didn’t win it by much which could be good or bad. As a fan though we live from week to week. If in May, Sydney do a number on Yokohama then I’d be inclined to feel good about what conclusions we can draw in relation to our competition. Even if the group is won and the Japanese send a reserve side there would still be a feel good story. I suppose we live for the moments! The good times are often fleeting moments in a lifetime of being involved in the game.

Before every game Corica espouses The Arnold Mantra" of "we exp[ect to win every game. So when they lose, it's because of the 3 week layoff or it was too windy. BS. They are flat track bullies who will probably put 5 past CCM on the weekend. I enjoyed seeing the arrogant ……….. being outclassed.

That's not a good excuse for being outclassed. The right response is to be angry that you've been outclassed and strive to be the best team in Asia.

Exactly right. And when you haven't played for 3 weeks and you are a little off the pace, good teams are going to tear you apart. We will be better in Sydney, I have no doubt. The climate in Sydney won't suit the full press game that they adopt either.

We are behind and getting further behind. I recently attended some clinics and matches in Tokyo and the standard from their youth players was mind blowing. A lot of it is cultural. These kids are totally, 100% committed to training and discipline and listening to the coaches. Our kids...not so much.

Buddy I dont totally disagree with you on many of your points. To me, Yokohama are a bit of an outlier in that they are way above the standard, even within the J-League. Rather than just point to this one game, why didn't you mention the previous nights game with Glory v Tokyo FC? You could come to different conclusions by looking at that game in its isolation as well.

If we can all calm down....Don't forget that Yokohama beat all the Japanese teams as well, so we are not alone in being outclassed.

Watching the game last night took me back to the days of Roarcelona. I am not saying that Roar were as good as this Marinos side but Roar's style was only limited by the players at Ange's disposal. To me this signifies why the salary cap must go. If Australian teams want to mix it with the likes of Marinos then the cap has to go and allow clubs to bring in better overseas players.

Sydney were really off the pace last night. In particular, Baumjohann looked like he hadn't played for weeks, and he hadn't. And 3 goals, arguably 4, came from defensive errors. Nevertheless, Yokohama were spectacularly good.

A-League fans shouldn't beat themselves up too much. Yokohama F.Marinos under Ange have been doing this for most of 2019 and seem set to continue in 2020. It's just until now few people in Australia have seen anything more than highlights of them in action. Tokyo FC came second in the J1-League yet Perth Glory didn't look out place at all.

This is the standard I want to see from A league clubs . Fantastic, watching the movement and skill . Why are we so far behind?

I'm already preparing a list of big teams who lost big games by big margins - it's always happening. But this was something to behold - the speed and precision of movement and passing were amazing. I kept thinking that this was completely NOT how Australia played with Ange in charge.
