By Josh / Expert

One more sleep. Just one! Free agency kicks off tomorrow and then the trade period begins on the Monday to follow.

Before that though, some of our Roar experts have put our heads together and come up with some predictions for the next two weeks.

» All the latest trade rumours
» Key dates for free agency and trades
» Complete list of free agents
» Every club’s draft picks

Ryan Buckland

First player to be traded: Michael Hibberd to Melbourne. It seems to be the most ready-made deal.

First free agent to move: Chris Mayne – someone foolhardy list manager will think they can convert him into a CHB.

Will get best ranking on The Roar‘s trade report card: It won’t be in the moment, but Fremantle’s foundation will be set in the next fortnight.

Will get worst ranking: North Melbourne, without question.

The big surprise: Adelaide will land their big midfield fish. Who it is will be the surprise, and I have no feel for it.

Definitely will happen: At least three fringe Dogs players will find new homes.

Definitely won’t happen: West Coast will not trade for a ruckman.

Josh Elliott

First player to be traded: Travis Cloke.

First free agent to move: Tyrone Vickery.

Will get best ranking on The Roar‘s trade report card: Hawthorn.

Will get worst ranking: North Melbourne.

The big surprise: Port don’t get a first round pick for Hamish Hartlett.

Definitely will happen: Jokes about equalisation made as Hawks snare the best two kids on the market.

Definitely won’t happen: A club forces a big-name player to the PSD.

Cameron Rose

First player to be traded: Jack Frost.

First free agent to move: Tyrone Vickery.

Will get best ranking on The Roar‘s trade report card: Collingwood.

Will get worst ranking: West Coast.

The big surprise: Hawthorn won’t land both Mitchell and O’Meara.

Definitely will happen: Richmond will get criticised for trading in anyone that isn’t a draft pick.

Definitely won’t happen: Brent Harvey playing for another club.

Giovanni Torre

First player to be traded: Travis Cloke.

First free agent to move: Tyrone Vickery.

Will get best ranking on The Roar‘s trade report card: Hawthorn.

Will get worst ranking: Fremantle.

The big surprise: Steven Motlop to stay at Geelong.

Definitely will happen: Brett Deledio to stay at Richmond.

Definitely won’t happen: Geelong landing a big-name recruit.

So there you have it. What would you have said? Got any hot tips for the trade period ahead? Let us know in the comments.

Then Fyfe grew up. He barracks for Freo now. He'll sign a 2 or 3 year contract with the Purple People soon. No longer than a few years because after that he'll sign another for even bigger money. When he's 28,29 he'll go the 4 or 5 year contract. By then he'll have 3 Brownlows, 2 Colemans, and at least 3 Premierships...all in purple. That's just a prediction, mind you.

Duryea is fouth round quality, Puopolo, Gunston, 14 and First round next year is fair for O'Meara...Poppy and pick 14 would only get his good leg. Mitchell would probably want to go to a side with finals prospects. That won't be Hawthorn because they will have to trade out everyone that can run just to get O'Meara and Mitchell.

Fyfe will be at Richmond. He barracked for Richmond as a kid and wants to play in a Richmond premiership.

I doubt Gibbs will be leaving but if it was to happen then I would think Adelaide's first 2 picks plus Lyons would be minimum.

Damian barrett had this on his "sliding doors" - "Carlton - IF -there's something we can't get a proper read on just now, yet feel there is something going on ... ... it is the Bryce Gibbs to SA prospects." I think that says it all - we have no information that suggests this is even a remote possibility but we have no real news to report until Monday so we will continue to beat it up. Reporters seem to be basically reporting that other reporters are reporting it. And again even if Gibbs wanted to go (and considering he has said exactly the opposite and we are just 2 days from trade week starting it is highly unlikely) pick 13 is clearly not enough. If Gibbs was uncontracted or the blues were desperate to move him on it might get done for 13 but as the situation stands 13 is not near enough - Matthew Lloyd proves his worth yet again.

blame Matthew Lloyd he is the one on there pushing it. Agree that the blues need to keep Gibbs as the older head to help the younger players on the field. But this trade rumour dose not seems to want to die

Wilson - Why would the blues give up one of only 2 players they have who got double figure brownlow votes, a player who has barely been out of the top 5 in its B&F, a player who is yet to turn 28 and would have at least 100 games of high quality AFL football left in him, a player who not only knows the systems but has developed a great rapport with Cripps and a player who can help the new players with his leadership and experience for pick 13? In the unlikely event Gibbs does get traded the blues would want more than pick 13. Also Gibbs has 3 years to run on his 5 year contract, he has stated he wants to be at Carlton, his management has dismissed the rumours he is going back to Adelaide and the Blues have said they will not trade him - I really can't see why this story has any legs.

Rockliff isn't going to be at Brisbane that's for sure (in fact that is my "what will happen")- if things weren't dicey enough his twitter faux pas has out the icing on the cake. Throw in Gibbs management saying the rumours have no basis, Gibbs being contracted for another 3 years and the blues stated desire to keep him and it is pretty obvious which player is more likely to end up at Adelaide.

First Player traded - a draw between Motlop and Deledio who will move in a straight swap. It is such a Geelong thing to do to get the deal they want done early and with a minimum of fanfare and it is such a Richmond thing to do to swap Deledio for Motlop.

First player to be traded: Lin Gong (agree with PD Suns have the pick to get it done fast) First free agent to move: Tyrone Vickery if that is not up by 11 today I will be surprised Will get best ranking on The Roar‘s trade report card: Lions new coach and staff will have them on the right line Will get worst ranking: Collingwood say you looking at youth then bring in Wells ? The big surprise 1: Tom Mitchell is still at the Swans next year. The big surprise 2: Cloke is actually at the Dogs next year. Definitely will happen: JOM at the Hawks next year. Definitely won’t happen: Carlton will give up pick 5.

I think Rockliff after his latest row with the Lions board over the very silly Twitter comment.

Gibbs, Rocky's on too much coin at Brissy. Adelaide won't match it.

PD- I reckon you are right about the blues getting those players and keeping pick 5 but there is no way they will get the best ranking on the roar - Ryan will give them another 3 unless they trade out Murphy Gibbs and Cripps!

Dougie, I hope you are right re the Blues trade report card but there would still be some people critical of them. As for your big surprise 3 - sorry but that will never happen.

Hmm. Pick 14 and Bruest is overs in my book. I'd offer the Suns, Puopolo or Duryea and our first next year for O'Meara. I'd give 14 to the Swans for Mitchell if he names Hawgthorn as his preferred destination with Langford as the steak knives. That may seem a bit thin but neither the Swans or Suns are holding many cards IMHO .

By currency, I meant trade currency. In other words, neither O'Meara or Mitchell are free agents, so the only way they will get to Hawthorn is if Hawthorn offer their clubs a satisfactory trade. The Hawks only have pick 14, 33 and 51 to offer, plus players, plus potentially next year's draft picks, plus whatever pick they get for trading Bradley Hill (if that trade goes through). Hawthorn would have to give up some pretty handy players to interest the Swans or Gold Coast, because the Hawks don't have sufficient draft picks. Would Gold Coast accept pick 14 and Breust for O'Meara? I doubt it. If they did, would Swans accept pick 33 and Sicily for Mitchell? No way. I'm sure Adelaide and other clubs would offer more and would meet Mitchell's salary demands.
