Origin 3 kick-off bingo: What time will State of Origin Game 3 actually start?

By The Roar / Editor

Tonight’s meeting between the Queensland Maroons and New South Wales Blues wraps up the 2018 series. Kick-off bingo has become a favourite game in the lead-up to kick-off and you can tell us when the game will start below.

UPDATE: The match started at 8:12pm.

The game is advertised to kick-off at 8pm (AEST), but as we know all too well, the chances of that actually happen are as slim as Parramatta’s finals hopes this season.

The Queensland faithful will farewell several influential captains of it’s past, in an event that is sure to drag on the wait until the official kick-off time.

Queensland sensation Amy Shark also performs in the lead-up to Game 3, with her hit singles ‘I Said Hi’ and ‘Weekends’ set to feature.

Both teams are set to enter the stadium at 7:55pm (AEST), before the national anthem is performed. Kick-off will follow shortly after that. That’s if things went to the advertised schedule. So, not going to happen.

So far this year, both games have failed to begin at the advertised time.

Game 1 kicked off 14 minutes late while the second instalment of this year’s series was 12 minutes behind schedule. We could even say they are slowly improving, but then, Game 2 is hard to get a read on given it was on a Sunday rather than the usual Wednesday.

Will they finally get it right this time? Most likely not. Let us know on the form below what time you think kick-off will be and we will have the answer at 7:50pm. That’s the advertised time anyway!

14 minutes late minus 12 minutes late equals a 2 minute difference. We will go 10 minutes late in game 3 tonight . 8:00pm

Unfortunately State of Origin doesn't follow protocol like the FIFA World Cup where games are kicked off on schedule. So i'll go 8:18pm

Well, that's the last time I state something like that based solely on my memory without double-checking

Of course advertising costs are higher during peak viewing as the reach is far greater than your 1am slot

Your logic is flawed considering game 1 was later than game 2!

Whenever ch9 has exclusive rights kickoff will always be late. The reason explained to me a few years ago was ch9 know they have the audience where they want them and so cram more ads in. Apparently ad fees are more expensive during high profile sport events so they make the most of it.

The Queenslanders will try to draw away from the fact that the series is lost by taking ages to go on about how good they were when they farewell their past captains. I'll go 8.14.

Gonna go early on this one - 8:09. Can't be as delayed as Game 2, surely

If it was a decider I'd say 8:28pm as pre-game would be dragged out even more, but a dead rubber might speed things up. I'll say 8:17pm.

8:16. I mean, two minutes earlier than Game 1 for Game 2, two minutes later for Game 3... Right?
