Lachie Whitfield ruled out of preliminary final

By Stirling Coates / Editor

Greater Western Sydney’s chances of winning their first preliminary final have been dealt a further blow, with star half-back flanker Lachie Whitfield ruled out of Saturday’s game with Collingwood.

2012’s no.1 draft pick has just had his appendix removed and won’t recover in time for the MCG encounter.

With Stephen Coniglio (knee) and Brett Deledio (calf) already on the sidelines and Toby Greene launching a last-ditch appeal against his suspension, the news was the last thing Leon Cameron needed to hear ahead of the season-defining clash.

Chris Scott feels like it's mission accomplished merely winning a final. His pathetic record is now 4 wins in the last 14 finals.

One hit wonders?? Come on pal, this is a team that won the GF in 2017 and are playing in consecutive PF’s!! It’ll be the Tigers to play in their 2nd GF in 3 years, comfortably accounting for an undermanned Cats side by 37 points!

Tar one like that, you tar us all Considering the glee at our early struggles, and the sheer derision which any suggestion we could recover from those was met with, I think most Tigers have been pretty circumspect.
