Wallabies lock in Bledisloe Cup, Rugby Championship fixtures for 2021

By The Roar / Editor

Rugby Australia has today locked in the Wallabies fixtures for the upcoming Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship series, with the all games so far scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand.

After COVID saw the Southern Hemisphere tournament reduced to a Tri Nations series last year, 2021 will see South Africa officially rejoin the fold after their series against the British and Irish Lions wraps up.

Following the three-Test series with France, which runs from July 7-17, the Wallabies will travel to Auckland’s Eden Park on Saturday, August 7 to begin their Bledisloe Cup campaign.

Perth’s Optus Stadium gets to host Australia’s lone home Test this series, with Game 2 heading to Western Australia on Saturday, August 21. The Wallabies will be hoping for a repeat of their first ever Bledisloe Cup match at the venue in 2019, where they pulled off a stunning 47-26 upset of the All Blacks.

The third and final Bledisloe Cup Test will be held the following Saturday at Wellington’s Sky Stadium.

Then, it’s four straight Saturday Tests for the Wallabies from September 11 until October 2. The first two will be against reigning World Cup champions South Africa and the latter two will come against Argentina.

At this stage, the second Springboks Test will be played at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, while the other three matches are scheduled to take place at as-of-yet unspecified Australian venues.

Every Wallabies Test will be televised live on Channel Nine (and/or its sister channels, varying by state) and will be available to stream live on Stan Sport.

I think depending on what happens with Lion's Tour whether we will see South Africa actually Tour for the RC. I love the Boks and what they bring, but I am 50-50 whether they'll come out here. They may play Argentina twice at home, but whether they venture to face the Aussies, likely at Suncorp and Sydney, remains to be seen.

Yeah totally agree Micko they weren't the best for a rectangular field but at least at Perth Stadium you are looking down into the action from most of the seats, and then there is the two bars on the third level!

Unless the Wallabies are playing, I can't see there being a big enough crowd for Adelaide to be financially viable.

Suncorp is apparently the only better stadium to watch rugby in Australia.

EFF, how do they change the seating for rugby compared to Aussie Rules? Ovals can be bad places to watch rugby.

Don’t complain you had all the tests of 2020 and the French tests to watch. Perth got nothing.

Great to see the Bleddisloe returning to Optus stadium. Get in early to secure tickets as it will sell out quickly. First tests in two years since August 2019. Let’s sell it out to make it clear that the RWC final should be played in Perth as we have the best atmosphere, timezone and supporters in the country.

I was surprised by how good it is in terms of being close to the action. Trying to watch the rectangle codes at Subiaco Oval or the Waca was terrible!

Great news. I was at the 2019 game and while the AB's couldn't win it was an amazing night with sell-out crowd. Perth Stadium is just awesome for watching any sport, AFL cricket rugby, bring it on.

Bledisloe Cup will come to Optus Stadium. Last time the Bledisloe CUp played in Perth was back in August 2019 where 61k people came to the venue. it was a record crowd at optus stadium, beating the State of Origin Game 2 Crowd. It would be great to see Bledisloe Cup coming back to Perth. There are a lot of Kiwis living in Perth supporting Rugby Union. Channel Nine has the rights to the Bledisloe Cup. I’m not sure whether Channel Nine Perth will use the primary channel or 9GEM, but this will see a ratings boost in the West.
