Former Dragons, Eels and Broncos star Corey Norman has decided to retire, aged 30.
Norman was linked to several clubs for 2022 after being relased by the Dragons.
He told the YKTR podcast that he had had enough after 228 NRL games.
“Yeah I was just like, na, I’m not even keen to play anymore,” Norman said.
“I was just over it so I thought just call it a day.”
“It was good bro, it was mad,” Norman added. “Best rollercoaster ever. 11 years ups and downs, the boys. The memories.
“Almost 250 games. 250 of the best.”
The Dragons cut Norman loose from $800,000 a year contract after he was involved in a number of off-field incidents, including the club’s Covid breach BBQ.
“Everything has to come to an end,” Norman said.

Only player he ever hurt because of his action’s was himself Yeah, his defence was a bit lacklustre....

Yeah that flagged for me too. He wasn't fired, his contract ended and wasn't renewed. The BBQ was in July, if he was part of the Dragons 2022 plans he would have been offered a contract long before that.

Lol which club would want an inveterate gambler who dabbles in drugs and hangs with the wrong people ..... plus his best form was at least 9 years ago

He's only a few injuries off getting a phone call from Griffin

He's only 30, wonder if the Dolphins will throw him a lifeline

He got a great deal. Maximised his limited ability in huge contracts and produced donuts.

Call form Hook? Geez 40_ 20 i sincerely hope not. If he does call Hook should be keelhauled.

Will go down as one of the worst signings the Dragons have ever made, and they still picked him every week for 3 seasons. Never looked interested

He'll be broke in 10 years time. Chances are he'll throw a wild bet on some kind of ridiculous fashion label that doesn't get up. The rest will be lost on the nags and the brickie's laptop. If he had applied himself and shown some commitment to his craft, he could have been on $900k for 7-8 years and set for life.

There comes a time when the decision is made for you . No offers forthcoming and who would really want to play in Europe . Only player he ever hurt because of his action's was himself . Good luck to him .

I think he was high quality, but its the 'career' part that was 'almost'.

Yeah, to be fair he did live up to his ability during that brief period at Parramatta. His kicking game was excellent around that time and I was hoping he could emulate Jamie Soward when he came to the Dragons.

His deficiencies are obvious, but he seems to be leaving in a good frame of mind. All the best, Corey.

Hi Tony, Just made AMD official - that's how I'm generally referred to anyway. And gave pride of place to Elie Brousse.

Did Corey call time on his NRL career, or did the NRL call time on Corey?

Wow. Change of name and icon. You're becoming quite the chameleon David

The only Corey Norman 'moment' I've got is in the final moments of a game a couple of years ago against the Dogs. Montoya taking a carry on the siren, brother bobble of DWZ, customarily bumbles it straight into Normey's $800k hands who steals the game. It fell into his lap. For me, that's him.
