The Tim Kelly deal is done, but there are plenty more moves still to come this AFL trade period. Follow all the action right here on The Roar from 9am (AEST).
Kelly’s move to West Coast, which for some reason included Essendon and netted Geelong a couple of first-round draft picks, had been tipped as the blockbuster move which could have dragged on right until the deadline, but instead it was the first trade to be completed in 2019.
Eddie Betts looks to be the next player on the move, the small forward set to rejoin former club Carlton. The Blues and Crows are, by all accounts, finalising the pick Adelaide will receive, as well as how much of Betts’ salary they’ll contribute.
Jack Steven’s move to Geelong has stalled, with Cats list manager Stephen Wells saying yesterday he wouldn’t be surprised if the midfielder remains at St Kilda in 2020. FOur-time best-and-fairest- winner Steven played just seven games in 2019 and is off contract at the end of the next season.
Meanwhile, all of Orazio Fantasia, Tom Papley, Joe Daniher and Dougal Howard could soon be on the move from their respective clubs, so there’s no shortage of trade news to follow along today.
Join us on The Roar as we keep you updated with all the latest developments and rumours for today’s trade action.

Macca, I agree that 2 first round picks is enough, I'd be happy with 2 first round picks but the fact is Hill has 2 years left on his contract and I really think Freo have no issue in letting him see another year out, if we are in the same position next year then St Kilda will still have to satisfy Freos wishes as he will still have one more year on his contract. Is he worth more than 2 first rounders? For me definitely not but Freo has all the power with Hill being contracted, he can't walk to the draft.

There are a select few that are on as high rotation as some of the songs on HT&E/ARN's own KIIS FM.

Have you heard Tom Browne's "Freo has been derailed" take on it all. He seems to think Freo wanted to trade Hill. "Bell has been outsmarted". I suspect he needs to understand footy a bit more.

Way off beam. How many top 10 selections do you think they have had. Until recently they have always been in the top 8. The recent picks have been fantastic. Brayshaw and Cerra have played AFL ever since they were drafted. Not a lot of top 10s have done that. Logue has been excellent when not injured. They are the only top 10s

Do you not read the answers? Look at the key players that have been out...8 to 12 of them for each other the last 4 seasons...and then tell me they didn't miss those games. They have had more than 8 to 12 out each week. These are just key players.

Sadly Dougie, Freo's top ten selections over the years have been worse than ordinary. That's why i would rather Hill than 6. Freo's only recent A graders Fyfe and Neale were not top ten. Cerra and Brayshaw MIGHT become A graders,

Gold Coast should go hard at Max King next year and flip the strategy on the Saints.

Why dont Freo win more often then, Don?

True, but clubs seem to be getting the top 10-20 picks right more often in recent years. I'm not familiar with this years draft, but last year all club's knew the top 6 were absolute guns and the next 10 were good.

I can confirm that several clubs do, in fact, exist, and that they want to have a roster full of players for 2020.

Well folks, that's another day with a lot of talk and very little player movement actually happening. Actually, there wasn't even that much talk, come to think of it. The main news of the day was Fremantle seeking two first-rounders for Brad Hill and St Kilda promptly trading away picks 6 and 59 to GWS for 12 and 18. That'll be one to keep an eye on over the coming days. Orazio Fantasia won't be moving to Port Adelaide, nor will Brad Crouch be leaving Adelaide, while Hawthorn free agent Grant Birchall inked a one-year deal with the Lions. Aaaaaaaaaand that's about it. You can have a read of my full report for the day's trade action - what little there was - and be sure to check back in tomorrow when it'll be Josh Elliott covering Day 6. Hopefully he'll have a little more news to bring you than I did!

Maybe Power after their discussions with Essendon realised the cost was too high and withdrew interest.

Why aren’t they trying to shop the power ranger?

Hello Catsman, you new or a reincarnation?

No real updates on that front Catsman. Sounds like St Kilda want 24 for him while Geelong want 37, but it wouldn't come as any great surprise if it's a lot of public posturing before a deal gets done next week.

Do we have any confirmation that any meetings between any clubs have been held?
