Meantime, Port have delisted another player, Jake Patmore. I'd say this confirms they'll carry the minimum 37 senior listed spots. They can put NGA kids onto Rookie B spots. I like Georgiades, even though he carved up the Suns on debut and it is good to coax top young talent along gradually when the team is winning.

If there is a second trade window, the Dogs could be under pressure to trade Dunkley. If they keep him, they still have to offload a player, who could provide those points without pick swaps. Another consideration for the Dogs is that they've traded out their second and third rounders for 2021, so there's potentially a lot of horse trading to go...

Port have gone to the draft last few years,on top of the 3 that has been well documented Rozee,Butters and Duursma they also have Georgiades [pick 18] Bergmann [pick 14] Williams [pick 24 ish] Mead [pick 28] all yet to debut apart from Georgiades [only 6 or 7 games into his career],like you said Jones[ likely to be top 10 draft pick] no concerns from my side about not having pick 44 or 32 next year, actually think we have jase burgoyne coming next year also, plenty of young talent

It isn't a criticism or doomsaying statement, just an observation noting players have retired or been delisted. Sure, Watts didn't work out and Sutcliffe got passed by others, but Westhoff and Ebert have been huge. If Aliir and Fantasia can be as good as that pair then Port will finish top again, simple as that. Lachie Jones looks good and the pair of father-sons would round out your draft and you'll get a couple in the rookie draft. The issue for Port is that their 2021 draft hand consists of a first rounder, then a couple of late picks. Port might be a club that goes with the minimum 37 on the Senior list, with 7 rookies. I don't know how things will work with draft windows in season, but Port Magpies would do well to cover themselves for depth because if the AFL side comes looking for a top-up player, or any AFL side for that matter, they won't be exposed like SANFL teams were last year in the mid-season draft. BTW, Port actually delisted 5 players, so the total list has lost 8 players, with 2 quality recruits and coming list cuts mean not many new players are needed. Then again, there could be a 2nd trade window and Port could pull a recruiting coup.

what about the culture Dan? Trelaor has confirmed Buckley did indeed tell him senior players wanted him moved on. If this isn't true then how can they possibly work with Buckley, if it is true, he's thrown them under the bus. I know you think I'm being melodramatic but this might mean curtains for Bucks.

In 2009 we were a team on the up. Collingwood won't lose much on the field by not having Treloar or Stephenson. We have the profile to cover those two players.

Perhaps this coming year the VFL/NEAFL will offer a competition and the opportunities for players to remain in the eastern states where the most scouts are. But yeah, there’s gonna be howling from non-AFL teams. Players won’t mind though. In the NEAFL they were going to introduce a concept called two-way players in 2020. Basically a player is contracted to say Southport and the Suns, but is only called upon to play tier 2 footy by the Suns if they have too many injuries to field 46 players a week.

My comment was meant as a laugh. Your hook line and sinker reply shows you took your own bait.

"Dunkley stranded at the Dogs" The way Essendon have been lately he may thank his lucky stars. Other than probably not being paid as much, with the Doggies in, you would think they are very much in the picture to play finals. Could even push into the Top 4.

He's got a great leap on him. Won't win many one-on-ones early in his career but could still cause problems if he's got space to run and jump at the footy.

I think the problem is that the 'chaff' isn't going to get us much of value in terms of draft picks. They would need to let go of a decent player like Smith or Hurley to make it worthwhile and with the loss of experience we've already suffered I just don't see it happening. We don't want to go the total rebuild.

With what is reported, what I originally said about the media still applies, they are not happy. They've traded out a guy who bleeds Black and White, to fit a guys who blackmailed them to get 7 years, and another who has a history of lying and doing what ever he likes and could be potentially suspended from playing some time next year. Hardly a great start at panel beating a dinted culture.

Stevo was scared on the field this year Kane. Ive never seen anything like it in AFL before. The thing that irks me is the club didn't try and coach him, fix it. He's scared says Buckley, clear him out.
